I'm goin to do this also. How do u change the hd key? and how lock it? config magic? Do i have 2 softmod it allready in the chipped xbox or can i just put slayers in and only install the original ms dash, put the new hd in other xbox en then softmod it? Not that it would make a difference to 2, just curious

Use XboxHDM to lock the HDD. You'll need to get the eeprom of the 1.6 Xbox first though.

Ok, here's the deal, I have a 1.6 with chip and would like 2 install larger hd's on 1.0 -> 1.6'es and wanne be sure these r the steps that needed 2 be taken:

1.load savegame and backup the eeprom of the box that needs an hd upgrade

2.put new hd in my box

3.load slayers, choose new install/full rebuild

4.softmod that hd on my box

5.I'm Stuck!!!  Change somehow the hdkey, what program?

6. Lock hd and put in the other box

Any help on 5 would be great, and if others steps are incorrect, correct them please

morpheous, in the tut you posted, in Step B, it says to make the EEPROM of both xboxes match.  Then in Step C it says to put in the new hd into the CHIPBOX and prepare it with a savegame exploit.  Shouldn't you install the new hd into the CHIPBOX first, then make the EEPROM's match, then prepare it with a savegame exploit?  Or am I missing something here?

I think I get it now.  My hd, in the CHIPBOX, is not being affected at all, correct?  Just the eeprom on my motherboard is being flashed (to that of VBOX and now they match.)  So I take it, on a CHIPBOX, the eeprom and the hd serial number do NOT have to match?  Is that correct?

Also, do I have to enter the hd serial number at some point?

Krayzie, it seems u have experience on this and if it's not to much asked, could u give the right steps that needed to be done in configmagic?

So, my xbox with my hd is turned on, conficmagic runs, I go to "on-the-fly-eeprom"
and just fill in the unique hdd key of the virgin xbox, correct? thats all? and just lock it?

-put it in retail xbox
-boot retail xbox with game save exploit
-go to conficmagic and lock it?
