PROBABLY the following will also work: (untested/unverified by me)
- Boot XBOX into gamesave
- Execute configmagic
- Remove current HDD and place new HDD
- Refresh contents of Configmagic
- Lock HDD
- Reboot XBOX using game in tray and starting hacked savegame
- Format HDD
- Transfer files to new HDD

Okay maybe you did that with your chip. But even if you'd be able to replace the hd under configmagic (which is a method tried before and resulted negative with softmods) how are you goin to run the gamesave from a blank hd?

- ConfigMagic cannot backup the EEPROM after hotswapping if the new drive is not properly formatted. Thus resulting in a hang.
- As krayzie pointed out the drive would be empty and unformatted afterwards so there would be no way to boot it.

BUT some scenarios exist in which this could work in your advantage.

i.e.
You have a HDD locked with EEPROM A.
Your current XBOX has EEPROM B and HDD locked with EEPROM B

You 'could'
- put EEPROM A on XBOX B
- Start ConfigMagic and overwrite EEPROM B with EEPROM A
- Hotswap HDD's
- Refresh EEPROM Data
- Unlock HDD locked with EEPROM A

This i've done before.

But to conclude and for the most part agree with krayzie on this:
Knowing that it's technically possible may give you an advantage in some very weird scenario.
This scenario however is very unlikely to occur and other methods are far more better and stable.

Hotswapping on a softmodded XBOX is not only extremely dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. It is also very unwise since it's a more tedious and difficult method.

I cannot think of any concrete scenario in which case this could help you.
(Maybe if you don't have a PC at hand and a backup of the 'other' EEPROM on your current XBOX HDD. But when will that ever happen?  huh.gif )

8 = Unknown (could someone make a complete list of this including memcards and x,y, z partitions etc?)

I know of these... but I can't help you with memcards partitions.  Don't even think they are partitions, they're probably a whole other device.

XBOX Partition Table
C: Device\Harddisk0\Partition2
E: Device\Harddisk0\Partition1
F: Device\Harddisk0\Partition6
G: Device\Harddisk0\Partition7
X: Device\Harddisk0\Partition3
Y: Device\Harddisk0\Partition4
Z: Device\Harddisk0\Partition5

The result:

The ACTUAL C will be copied to an undefined partition (what is Partition8?)
The FILE: \partition8\shadowc.img will be mounted as \partition2\ (C:)
Thus completely hiding the ACTUAL c-partition which also contains shadowc.img

the xbox boot process is still vunarable because of the mounted shadowc.img you get to  see the c drive and thus can delete evoxdash.xbe result in nkpatcher crash at start up

correct me if i am wrong

also  is there a way to hide the c drive permanantly

You are right, BUT... now you can ALWAYS boot up with a 'Rescue-DVD' (with EvoX on it or something) and get access to the partition inside the image. NKPatcher is always loaded.

Burn a CD/DVD/whatever your Xbox can read without problems. Use ISO/UDF-file format and put default.xbe (your renamed evoxdash.xbe) and evox.ini in the root.smile.gif

[edit]Removed my 'problem' and question. Resolved it myself.[/edit]

How to edit Nkpatcher's 10 .xbe file to have for example eject fix ? in readme says dit config file but if edit how i have to use it? just place it along with xbe in root of E or patch with someway (hex editor maybe ) the xbe loader? Anyone can be more specific? thanks

Ehm...
The accompanying read-me file gives more than enough information.
Take a look at this excerpt:
QUOTE
* Edit file config.inc to configure nkpatcher. Then compile using NASM
   (Netwide Assembler):

    nasm -o nkpatcher.xbe xboxapp.asm

Remember to sign the output file (XBE) with xbedump.

Rmenhal told you EXACTLY how you would go about changing 'settings' in nkpatcher.

QUOTE
P.S. Can i read  somewhere more detailed explanation of shadow c feature?
Readme file is very basic.... i think wink.gif

Is this not enough information?
