I Have Very Little

Hey all. I'm in college, and I really want to mod my xbox, for two primary purposes: one, xbox media center looks kickin, and I'd love to have it on my system.  Two: i'm a computer science major who just wants to mess around with it.  Maybe backup a few games with it, who knows.  I DO want my halo 2 to keep working, there aren't any software updates that would keep me from modding, eh?

Few small problems though: I have NO money with which to buy a mod chip, or anything else that requires money.

I'm more than willing to follow a tutorial, however, there are just sooooo many tutorials, and I have trouble finding one that has the same amount of equipment I have.

So here's what I have:
Computer with Crossover ethernet cord (however, it's a lappy)
CD Burner
external USB Hard Drive
v1.6 XBox w:
    Kernel 5838
    Dash   5960
couple of games, including halo2

and that's it!  i'm in a dorm, and I can look around for someone with 007/splintercell/mechassault, or someone who has a pendrive to spare, or someone who would let me open their computer and f*** around with IDE cables (unlikely).

at home, i think my brothers have a copy of mechassault, but I've already tried modding another xbox with an older version of ActionReplay, and we know how much old-school actionreplay sucks.

So I guess I'm just asking for someone to point me in the direction of a tutorial that uses the above supplies and makes me beg my dormmates for as little other stuff as possible.  am i hopeless?

thanx a bajillion,
clinton

I have packages for the three exploitable games (007, SC, MA) that you might find useful but I haven't had time to write a tutorial (once you get the gamesave to the xbox, it's pretty self explanatory). Plus they're not on the usual place so you'll have to find some other way to get them.

Just go here and check out this tutorial.  It doesnt require a mem card or game though there is some dangers in hotswapping.  But if you dont have one of the games listed above and a card with the exploitable game save then this is probaly your best bet.

yeah, I saw the tutorial for the hot-swap.  I just wondered if any newer things came out that I wasn't aware of yet.  Guess not.  I suppose I'll be finding someone to lend me their computer for a bit.  No one on here lives in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, do they?    ;)

I'll pull something together.  Thanx
