Just kidding.

I know (spam alart!11) this is garbage.

But I'm despressed and needed a laugh.

Do we really need all these installers? I'm still using Ldot's 1.7.5 happily.

The noobs are gonna be even more confused now.

STOP THE MADNESS!!

i know, i like the idea of variety.

but to be honest it is gonna just cause more confusion amongst people, as well as new problems.

ltools was all that was needed, look now we have

an abandoned (someone correct me) ltools
ricetools
waffletools
SIN
Spaceboys Installer.

I think we gotta stop now! laugh.gif

ltools (1.8) doesn't work on my 1.6b PAL (get a black screen when loading gamesave - don't like that, don't want to telnet... doing it manually for now)

in think it's a good thing people are trying to make new installers, however... as i already said in the waffletools post... documentation!

document every single step; the location of every script file; post the sources (if no legal issues) and a folder structure...

combine efforts!  don't reinvent the wheel, try to improve existing stuff, or create a new one from scratch and keep working on/improving that one with a few people...

maybe we should create a new package development thread

2 cents on this:

Dont be confused. READ! first of all things READ!

Now, if your not into reading, is there anyone that wants to put together a big memory card installer for the scene. One which is packed full of goodies and goodness. Proven to all UDE, UDE2, and UXE... with dashboards, apps, skins, preconfigured, all this which can be selected by the user. Then be done!

Angerwound has helped guide me a bit to add to a ude package which comes in at 11megs and counting as I learn more coding. Thank you angerwound.

Any takers.

Take care and again if your new to the site, READ, READ, READ.

Good stuff. I will try to go with the 64meg installer and see how far I get. PM you if needed. Awesome idea.

AD stick usb flash drives from pingtec work great! Cheap too.

QUOTE (wafflezone @ Dec 9 2004, 04:52 PM)
LTools, doesn't install the package I like, and also doesn't have any quick scripts to restore backups of modded and unmodded states. I also don't like how critical files are saved on the E drive. I've been making it for a long time, and I thought it might be useful to others. It's especially handy for those who want to play on xbox live.

I'm sorry for spending my time helping others?

No, no no.

I appreciate the work that goes into ANY package... as long as it gives the due credit and works properly without fucking my box up (like uninstalling M$dash).

If it's a good package, props. Keep it up. I am just overwhelmed by the amount of new packages coming out. There must be order to the chaos!

Slayers for softmod would be very interesting.

BUT I WOULD REALLY like to see an installer with a choice of several dashes.

especially unleashx....the choice of evox or unleashx would be so sexy.

I would love to see your version up on the scene. boot cd would be awesome for the softmod community.

Need to see what the mods think of it....

Take care

Definitely sounds like a good idea for people such as me that are lazy when it comes to installing softmods.  Everytime i come home for the holidays seems like my cousin have someone that wants there box modded.  So an automated system like slayerz would help a lot.

unless. correct me if i'm wrong.

what if nkpatcher was built into the gamesave exploit. this would disable R-O-E and allow disc swapping.

I had been attempting this, and still am as a matter of fact.  But I have no official information as of yet.

which is why nkpatcher is a good choice. it patches the kernel in memory.

for example if you build a gamesave exploit with a dash, with nkpatcher set up as a menu option. then simply load nkpatcher, this patches the kernel in memory then insert cd.

boot process

gamesave exploit -------> dash -----> select disc swap option (really nkpatcher booter) ------> nkpatcher loads -----> loads another xbe included with "insert disc screen" ----> insert cd -----> loads xbe off disc

and bam!

this is just a guess though but you get the idea
