I just tried the MA and SC waffletools installers and it always gives me an error about unable to extract rar biosloader or that it cannot execute command delete....

I went back to Ltools and it worked flawlessly....

ummm....right.....where do i start.

if you didn't somehow screw up, and it really is a problem with waffletools. it doesn't mean that the installer is screwed up. that would be caused by a problem in the config.xml file for unleashx. why don't you ftp it to your comp and take a look at it. see where it's looking for the apps. if you do this and see that there is no apps folder listed, then yes, you should post that here so that it can be fixed.

if you want to keep using ltools, then go ahead. ltools is still a very good package. it's quickly being outdated however. if you want to use that, you should keep in mind that you may need to learn how to update things down the road (ie nkpatcher 10 or new bioses)

Well, I have used waffletools several times and have had NO problems puttings apps on the hd.  IT is just as simple as making an 'Apps' folder on your e: or f: drive and transfering the apps over.  Just remember that if you do this, you need to rename the main xbe of that particular app to default.xbe or it will not show up on the dash.  For example, if you want to transfer Avalaunch over as as app.  Inside the Avalaunch folder, the main xbe is named avalaunch.xbe.  If you want it to show up on the dash when you copying it over, you must rename avalaunch.xbe to default.xbe and then it will show up.

As for the 'Copying Game Disc' option, again I have seen it used several times and never errored out once.  These are just my experiences, yours may differ.  But I cannot agree that waffletools is "flawed."  The only problem I have had with waffletools is it not being able to backup the eeprom.

The Truth, excuse my typo, everyone knows that it's ltools not itools smile.gif  But you're wrong about waffletools, it does not show apps.  How can this be operator error when it's as simple as naming a directory "Apps" (c drive or e drive, makes no difference) and sticking your apps in there?  tongue.gif  unless you're going to tell me to make an apps folder in the x/y/z drive   ohmy.gif

And while it does install uxe, the real headache occurs when people try to install apps and it doesn't appear on the dashboard.  And the game transfer option is definitely flawed, it errors out half of the time.  I gave up and just ftped the games over and they're fine.  And the lack of ability to install a new default dashboard of your choice (ie evox or avalaunch) is a definite downside.

I've installed Waffletools on over 10 Xbox's now and they all run fine. Installing apps is never a problem and the game transfer option (DVD2XBOX) is only a prob with Xbox's that have a bad DVD-ROM, you can tell when a perfectly working backup works in one Xbox and not in the other (both using Waffletools). Don't blame Waffletools for that, blame M$.

Ther are two things that Waffletools needs however; the eeprom backup fixed, and the ability to run the MS dash along side your mod dash.

I had an idea to fix that.. When waffle tools places your unmodded files in c:\backup\unmodded then it installs UXE then it loads shadowC maker. Then it replaces the .xml file that only has the option of copying Unmodded to c:\ then reboots you choose the move option then that will replace it with the orginal .xml file This way you have Virtual C running and the MSdash on C.. As for the eeprom all he needs to do is take the newest eeprom backup tool from ltools and just add it and test it.. In earlier ver's of waffle tools the back up eeprom worked great i think ftp'in it in ASCII could have messed up some of the linux files (i've ran in to this once with scripts). I might even try to make this my self with waffle's help.

Hope that made since hard to explain about the moving .xml files ( unleash won't excute something and i don't want users messing things up only give them 1 option and you have less of a chance of them doing something stupid.)

yeah...it does get to be a bit of a mind twist setting it up though. trying to remember which xml files go where and who goes next and where to put the others....but overall it helps prevent screw ups. another big advantage is that most people screw up their xboxes by trying to backtrack halfway through the process, this makes it impossible to uninstall until it's fully setup and an uninstall won't hurt anything.  (make sure you rename the first menu to like original.xml or something and then name it back after or else the process won't be repeatable).

edit: it's also nice when they open up the package and the ONLY option they have at the current time is "backup eeprom/c drive" (you can rename the second step back to the first after it runs through so that they won't have to backup every time they want to install/uninstall it)

well you can name the .xml files what ever you want.. Then before unleash moves then rename them.. That way it's a bit easiyer with them being named yanno? (updateing the  installer and such)

travelagain....instead of running your mouth you should just ftp in, grab the config.xml file and see where it's loading apps from (if it's loading them at all). that would basically show everyone once and for all whether you were right and there is a flaw in the config file, or you were somehow making a mistake. it would make this a lot less petty and it would be over much quicker...

cmiz,

i'm not running my mouth.  i'm only stating facts.

it's the fact that he likes to call people fool this and fool that which eeks me more than anything else.  it seems like he likes to attack me on every single of my posts just because of his ex's issue.

Keo-Keo, you stated "If you apps aren't showing up your doing somthing wrong.. NO your apps folder cannot be in C for one"

I said it made no difference whether I "placed an apps folder in c or the e drive".  I never said I only installed it on a c drive.  Are you still following me....if you are, then good, give yourself a pat on the back...

let's move on to the point why apps are not showing up on the dashboard.  as Hoops pointed out above, the reason why apps are not showing up, It is BECAUSE you have to manually rename the main xbe of that particular app to default.xbe or it will not show up on the dash.

think and READ carefully before you question someone's intelligence.  your inept responses only reflects poorly on yourself
*

and how is that a flaw in waffletools?!?!?!
executables named default.xbe are required for every dash as far as i know
so far you are the only one making inept posts and reflecting poorly on yourself
you seem to be having problems with really basic concepts like having to have apps main executable as 'default.xbe' and not knowing how to replace the dash in waffletools (replace the files in c:/dashboard with whatever dash you want)
maybe you should read some basic documentation before attempting to use things you don't understand and then slagging them off
