Hotswap W/ Virtual Drive

I'm interested in doing the hotswap softmod method for my xbox,  however,
I would like to, instead of burning it, create the proper ISO, mount it on a virtual drive, reboot my PC (in DOS) and continue from there.  Basically, I'm not asking how to do this, but rather, will it work in terms of softmodding the XBOX?  I know I can burn it on a CD, but I have to access to any right now.  Plus i'm interested to know.
