install a dvd player i reccommend you install xbox media center then play the dvds through that.

Am i right in thinking that if i want to get to msdash when using uxe complete the way to go is to patch my original xboxdash.xbe using ltools font_patcher to look in -f0nts and create a f0nts folder on my xbox c: drive and copy my original fonts into it.
But make sure that i rename xboxdash.xbe to msdash.xbe as thats what my evox.ini has in it.
Also do i need to put evox on the root c: on the xbox or not? wink.gif

that sounds correct yes! smile.gif

This is a mod for someone else though I don't really want to use extra apps, as I want it to remain as fast as possible

Tryin to recover my failed softmod NTSC-J black Xbox v1.6 from this tutorial.

At first getting error 13 msg, then try to go Live with Crimson Skies game but with a error 21 msg and now can't even boot a that game with an error 16 msg.

Fellow forumers advise should mod with UXE instead coz it's not compatible with my NTSC-J Xbox. Have already downloaded the uxe-complete, so for my situation, can I do the following.

Steps:
1. Unzip the content of uxe-updatefonts71 to my PC HDD
2. Boot up with xboxhdm
3. Hotswap the xbox HDD
4. Delete xbox HDD C drive (i don't think I need to backup rite?)
5. Drag the content of uxe-updatefonts71 to xbox HDD C drive. (can xboxhdm do this?)
6. Shutdown the PC
7. Shutdown Xbox
8. Disconnect the cable connecting the xbox HDD from the PC and reconnect back to the xbox. (with 6, 7, 8, is this the correct way of ending a hotswap process?)
9. Start the xbox and I should get a softmod xbox?

Questions:
1. Do I need to copy my backup which I did with the tutorial b4 I do the above? Juz incase anythin goes wrong wif the xbox HDD, I can use another HDD.
2. How abt the password or the eeprom, is that the same?

EEPROM is most important, but for ur case u won't be able to get the eeprom unless u load evo-x or a similar tool onto the drive, either that being a gamesave or hotswapping the uxe onto it. If you have a virgin box, backup ur C drive PRIOR to doing any deleting or transfering of files. Just a safe precaution if something were to go wrong, but in most cases UXE is pretty safe, and slayer's can restore a bad mod.

If successful, you will now be ready to install UDE2. At the prompt type "UDE -UDE2" - again without the quote and in all capital letters.

xboxhdm should now make a backup of your XBOX hard drive. This may take a few minutes.

After the backup, xboxhdm should try to find your eeprom file but since your XBOX is virgin, it won't find one. Thats ok. It will search for compatible update.xbe files to turn into a exploited executable. No user intervention is usually required here.

Anyway have revise my procedures based on what you have said.

Steps:
1. Unzip the content of uxe-updatefonts71 to my PC HDD
2. Burn an ISO of xboxhdm with uxe-updatefonts71 in linux\C (as xboxhdm can't detect my PC HDD when use to bootup)
2. Boot up with xboxhdm
3. Hotswap the xbox HDD
4. Delete xbox HDD C drive (don't think I need to backup rite since already backup on my previous softmod?)
10. Using evo-x or a similar tool to get the eeprom.
11. FTP into xbox and copy as a backup on my PC HDD.

If you are confused, I started a thread a while ago about MS dash access and differences between what this is and what ltools is.

Basically this is *not* an installer. It is a simplified manual install.

Answers:

Step 4 - As long as u have a backup of the ORIGINAL VIRGIN drive, absolutely UNMODDED in any way, then u don't need to make a backup each time, sometiems it's nice to make a SEPERATE backup after a sucessful mod, so that if u mess around with files to tweak settings or whatever, u can just copy over the modded C instead of having to mod all over again.

Steo 5 - u can't "drag" the files over.... xboxhdm is a linux program that run's in dos prompt, it is not as simple as using Windows Explorer....

you need to wait a bit as UIX has issues with nkpatcher and certain bioses at the moment. it wont work with uxe complete running nkpatcher.

abunene

having just the uxe complete files on C is fine. no others are required for the exploit.

evox backs up the eeprom i think, you need this along with all of the files from your hard drive. yes you can change the old hard drive back to retail for backup purposes while keeping your new one modded.

you can use the ms dash to do it. install a shadow c drive with nkpatcher 8-10 then make the drive retail. you may even be able to do it in xbox media center, but im not sure.

transfer/rip the game as files, not as iso.
