the uxe package at xbins uses nkpatcher method so you don't need the bios. However, if you want to use pbl instead of nkpatcher, you need the pbl-mettoo & either x2 and m8 bios, I prefer m8 bios. if you want to use pbl method, I suggest you just get the package at xbins running first then run the backup option and download the eeprom to your computer first then ftp your version of uxe or if you are confident that you can assemble your own uxe package then go ahead. Very easy.
========================================
UXE will works with all kernels (3944-5838) and all regions.Why make your own UXE rather than use a premade one?
Premade package at XBins is great but the default path that some files are looking for is modified so if you want to update PBL or switch between NKPatcher and PBL it requires a few extra steps rather than just copy the PBL files from new version and replace/overwrite the old version.
More importantly, it is more fun if you know or at least have an idea what going on rather than just copy and paste.How to assemble your own/default UXE (The Manly Way) and copy it over to your xbox using hotswap and XBrowser.1. Go to XBins download UXE package under exploit & Evox Dash & PBL-MeToo or nkpatcher.
2. Extract the the xboxdash.xbe in the package to your XLinux C folder
3. Go to
http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=281850 and download the fonts and extract the files to a temporary folder.
4. Create a "fonts" folder in your XLinux C folder
5. Copy fonts bert-generic.xtf & ernie.xtf in s1994752 to your fonts folder in XLinux C folder. (Try 71 version first, if you know your kernal#, use the bert for specific kernal rather than the generic)
6. Extract Evox dashboard files to XLinux C folder
7. Extract PBL-MeToo to E folder in XLinux. You do not have to extract the Evtool and the Source folder because your xbox will not use it. Evtool is for you to edit the bios like changing boot path and led color etc.. Source code is the blue print for people who know how to code or know what they are doing.
If you would like to use nkpatcher instead, just extract nkpatcher into the E folder rather than PBL-MeToo.8. Check to make sure you have the files in the structure as below, if yes, create the iso and burn it.
9. Hotswap
10. Rename your original xboxdash.xbe in your xbox C partition to xbodash.bak
11. Rename your xbox fonts folder in xbox c partition to f0nts
12. Copy the files in your C XLinux folder to your xbox C partition
13. Copy the files in your E XLinux folder to your xbox E partition.
14. Double check to make sure that the files and folders are copied.
15. Quit =>Type poweroff follow by Enter key. Shutdown and put your XBOX back to your xbox and have fun

16. Backup your eeprom using Evox backup option and download it to your computer and burn it to a cd or two.
Is this too difficult? Use the
Sissy WayAlso if you have ftp access to your xbox via game save exploit or use older exploit, you don't have to use xbrowser or hotswap, just rename and upload the files to the location mentioned above.
=============================================
These are the
MINIMAL files you should have on your C and E folder in XLinux and C and E in your XBox after you copied it if you are using PBL-MeToo. If you use nkpatcher, there will be only 1 file in E, default.xbe from nkpatcher. Once you softmoded, if you want to be 100% secured/not have to worry about game automatically update your dash/mess up your files, you can either delete Xbox.xtf and XBox Book.xtf in the root c:\ or renamed the extension from xtf to bak via ftp or any filemanage program in XBox. Right now, you don't have to worry about the xtf files in f0nts folder because the normal updatedash.xbe doesn't look for the fonts in f0nts yet. In another word, if there is no Retail fonts in c:\fonts\ or c:\ updatedash.xbe will not load because it requires those files. If it doesn't load, it can't update/mess up your files/exploit.
C folder in XLinuxFonts =>Folder =>Make sure your fonts folder only have bert and ernie file from s1994752 folder/version.

bert-generic.xtf =>if you know your kernal #, you can use the kernal specific bert else use generic if you can't find it in the fonts6171.zip. DO NOT GUESS.

ernie.xtfSkin =>Folder. Can be lots of folders inside or one or none but it doesn't matter because it is just the outer/skin/appearance of EvoxDash.

Here is the basic concept of XBrowser. Half of the screen/one side is the source and the other half is the destination =>CD = source and XBox = destination. So when you execute the copy command, whatever you select in the source side will be transfer to the destination side.
How to copy file abc.xbe from your CD to XBox C root => C:\abc.xbe1. Press Tab key to switch to the destination/XBox HD side
2. Use arrow keys and Enter key to nagivate to where you want the file to be copied to. In this case C:\ so select C and press Enter key in the destination side/XBox HD side.
3. Press Tab key to switch to the source side
4. Go to the source/CD where abc.xbe is located by using your arrow key and Enter key. Select the file by pressing the "0/Ins" (bottom right corner).
5. Press F5 (Copy key) and a window will shows up, just press Enter or use Tab or arrow key and highlight "OK" and press Enter. Either way, it is the same.
How to rename file c:\XBoxdash.xbe to c:\XBoxdash.bak in XBrowser.1. Press Tab key to switch to the destination/XBox HD side
2. Use the arrow key to select your XBox C partition and press Enter to select/go to that partition.
3. Use arrow key to navigate to the file XBoxdash.xbe
4. After you put the cursor/highligh bar at XBoxdash.xbe, press F6 (Ren/Mov key) and a window will shows up.
5. In the 2nd input box/rename to box, type in the name you want to use, in this case, the 2nd input box should say XBoxdash.bak. Press Enter or use arrow key or Tab key to navigate to the OK button and Press Enter.
6. The file XBoxdash.xbe should be XBoxdash.bak now.
Some Tips for XBoxHDMTo highlight/select something, press the key with "0/Ins" (bottom right corner). Use this key to select the files and folders you want to copy to your XBox HD.
To switch between source and destination side, use Tab key
Read the tutorial.txt in XBoxHDM.zip file. It was a little blurp on how to rename etc..
Some Tips for Hotswap/Common sense*Remove your XBox HD from its case/holder.
*Disconnect the IDE connection to the XBox DVD-ROM.
*Make sure the AV cable is hook up to the back of your XBox, don't have to hook up to the TV.
*Disconnect all computer HD from its IDE cable or remove the power plug or do both to be safe.
*Turn off your XBox and computer and practice a few time when there is no power first. Practice makes perfect.
*Disconnect and reconnect the XBox HD IDE cable to its HD a few times to lossen the connection->become less 'sticky'.
*Don't touch bottom of the HD when the HD is powered.
*When you are comfortable, you can hotswap.
How to Hotswap (DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK) 1. Find your computer Primary IDE channel/cable. It is usually the one that is connected to your OS HD.
2. Unplug IDE connection to the XBOX DVDROM and reconnect your XBox HD to the XBOX.
3. Turn on your XBox
4. Insert XBoxHDM CD into your computer and let your computer boot to XBoxHDM selection screen.
5. When your computer boot to the selection screen and your XBox light is flashing red/orange etc..., relatively quick (don't have to be that quick but just don't start daydreaming after you unplug the HD etc..) but CAREFULLY, remove the XBox HD from its IDE Cable and insert your computer Primary IDE Cable to the XBox HD.
6. Then select "Boot text-console with xbox-drive utilities" by type 2 and then follow by Enter key.
7. XBoxHDM will do its business and it will takes a minute or so. If you do it right, you will not see any error reguarding to the HD etc...
8. When it is done loading/booting, type xbrowser and then follow by Enter key. This will mount your CD and the XBox C & E Partition.
9. If you successfully hotswap, a semi-graphical filemanager will shows up and you can do what you need to do to mod, rename and copy etc..
10. If when you type xbrowser and you get error message, which means, you weren't successfully hotswap so you need to redo from step one. It could also be that you didn't hook up your XBox HD to your computer Primary IDE cable.

How to get original xboxdash running again. 1. Download and install Frhed
http://www.x-ways.ne...ex/index-m.html 2. Ftp into your XBox and download MODXBoxdash.xbe or the name of your RETAIL/ORIGINAL XBoxdash.xbe
3. Run Frhed =>File=>Open=>Open the MODXBoxdash.xbe
4. Edit=>Find....
5. Type fonts in the search box and make sure that Unicode option has a check mark next to it. Then click OK.
6. It will find the first occurrance so what you need to do is click on the letter o and type 0 (note that 0 is a zero and assume that you put your RETAIL fonts in f0nts folder.
7. Then go to Edit=>Find.... and repeat the process, find and change to zero. DO NOT USE THE FIND NEXT OPTION. For some reason, I couldn't get it to find the next occurance of the word fonts. Do this until it can't find any more fonts. Some dashboard has 2 occurances while some has 4. Anyway, if you use the Find option and it said can't find any, which mean that you replaced them all.
8. File=>Save or Save As depend on you.
9. Upload the file you just edited to your XBOX. Make sure that it is NOT named as XBoxdash.xbe, I prefer it to be name as MODXBoxdash.xbe so I know that I edited the xbe file and the signature is broken etc...
10. Edit your dashboard config file so it can execute your moded xboxdash.xbe. For example, for XBMC, I added this under "My Programs"
<bookmark>
<name>Apps</name>
<path>E:\Apps\,F:\Apps\,C:\MODXboxdash.xbe</path>
<depth>1</depth>
</bookmark>
Some HintsXBoxdash.xbe need its supporting files to run like the retail fonts, stuff in Audio and xboxdashdata.xxxxxxxx folder.
Also make sure that you don't mix and match XBoxdash.xbe with its supporting files. For example, don't just get XBoxdash.xbe from one person and the supporting files from another. So what you need to do is use the files that came with your XBox HD or from your friend XBox or from Slayer CD. When I mixed an match XBoxdash.xbe (newer version) with different source of support files (supporting files from older xboxdash version), I get error 21.
Also, when I tested the font patcher at
http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=239371, it doesn't work on newer XBoxdash.xbe so it could be the problem with some people not getting XBodash.xbe to run etc..
