Switching To M8 Bios With Ude/ude2/uxe Tutorial
« on: November 09, 2004, 02:45:00 PM »

So well after receiving many pm telling me how how did i changed to newest m8 bios, ive done this tutorial out there, as a reference biggrin.gif

This tutorial is intended for UDE/UDE2/UXE users ONLY (relative paths), those users must use the pbl-metoo edition.

*Tips for new bios installation*
Always backup your old bios, i name it myself xboxrombcp.bin, so if it doesnt work pop in an exploitable game ftp in, and just delete the new one, rename your backup and that it smile.gif

First you should get metoo-m8pack-v1.4.zip from xbins in /XBOX/exploits/Bios Patchers and Loaders/pblmetoo/ .

Secondly, Ftp in your xbox, go to e/biosld/ and rename the xboxrom.bin to xboxrombcp.bin

Now, pickup the M8_LBA48_IGR_Q-06-BFM.bin in your extracted folder of the m8 package, rename it to xboxrom.bin. Now open it up with evtool from the package metoo-m8pack-v1.4\evtool.

Now u see the red section, edit the first choice, click on the arrow to show up the e partition, and write in the box dashboard\default.xbe

That it, now just save and upload it to your box in the e/biosld/ folder, and that it biggrin.gif

It should boot up correctly smile.gif
If you got any problems just reply to this thread, and if admins could pin up this thread would be nice smile.gif

I'll vouch that this will work with Ltools 1.7.5 installed on an Xbox 1.6.  Went through the same process last week.  If you don't change the default dashboard path in the new bios your Xbox probably will not boot to the dashboard.  <

I did this exactly as stated and it booted to dash fine (xbmc) However, dash was unable to locate any xbe's ie. programs, backups. I was able to revert back to x2 bios thru reinstall of ltools. It seems like I am close but no cigar. Would the partition of the bios affect this problem. BTW old bios works fine on current system all xbe's accounted for so it should not be a dash problem??

did you mean to put the exclamation on the reanaming of directory for dash "dashboard\default.xbe !"  <

I removed the exaclamation, and your problem seem a config file problem or you selected the wrong dash when editing with evtool, might me sumthing else but i highly doubt it.  blink.gif

Your problem consists of two things.
A) XBMC Settings .. . Go to Settings My Files ->> And sure you are able SCAN.
     1) Go back and scan your files. It should come up.
B)XBMC is picky, Change the install directory to E: instead of E:\Dashboard.   <

Scan works but only produces shortcut to pbl, and xbmc. What do you mean I should install it to E:? The default dashboard location for ltools is e:dashboard.  <

If xbmc starts then assuming you are using a correctly partitioned bios you can forget about that being the issue..  If you aren't using a correctly partitioned bios then you should expect some serious problems with data corruption.. Check your My Programs bookmarks in xboxmediacenter.xml, you probably don't have apps in the right place..  Glad I finally know how to run EVTool, thanks man..smile.gif

SiB:  Thanks for the tutorial.  Only problem is that after updating the bios, my issue has not been resolved.  I continue to have problems with Crimson Skies and Burnout 3.  Help   <

There are a couple of games that don't play nicely with any version of pbl..  IMO nkpatcher should be the bios loader on softmods..  You can always run PBL as an app if you want a specific feature..  <

My problem mentioned above was due to partitioning. Those of you using older bios partitions beware. My box was initially set up by bios that allowed 137gb to f drive and rest to G drive. When I moved from x2 to m8 included in ltools package my system info showed g drive "not available" and would not show any folders that had been created in F:. They would not even show up by ftp. So, I reformated my F: drive and reinstalled apps. Then followed your tutorial for updating bios and it worked perfectly.

I can now play doa ultimate after updating to m8-pblmetoo-1.4 i have not tried crimson yet but I'm sure it will work.

then, is there a way to keep nkpatcher, but add something that allows me to press the buttons: select, start, right triger, left trigger, so that when i press those buttons it goes to evox?  <
