Bios Problems
« on: December 27, 2004, 03:09:00 AM »

I just got a matrix chip from my friend to fix my xbox, i have a hdd in the box with all files needed and its unlocked. But no matter what bios i try with the matrix it frags.

Its been setup on a 1.2 with the d0 soldered. The only bios that didnt frag was cromwell 1.8. It just sat on a blank screen. Does anyone have any ideas?

The old hdd is broke and the eeprom wont work for some reason to lock any drives for it, it keeps giving error 6, or error 5 when its unlocked. Anyone want to help?

OK, i just got a different bios to do the black screen thing but the same bios was fragging before, is this just bad connections or is the chip shagged?

man..matrix's are shit, i had one before and after a few months of use it just took a major dump on my mobo and i had to get a new one...you are better off trying a different chip and seeing what happens..perhaps you had a bad flash or something.

What do hacked bioses do when the eeprom is shagged? do they frag or just give an error? im thinking my eeprom might be messed up since i can lock a drive for it with the original eeprom i have on my computer.

Im gonna see if a debug bios will load.

I've got the chip running without a frag but it doesnt output any video or audio. The hd and dvd drives spin up and i can eject the tray. Does anyone know if it is actually loading a dash or cd?

Does anybody know if the spacer for the chip actually needs to be conductive?

Ok you can try frounding the matrix but I don't think it is the ground that is causeing the problem if you put back cromwell 1.8 and it does not frag then I would think it is the bioses your tring.  I know you can not use excuter 2976 or lower boes  You have to use 2980 or up.  Also you can not use any evox bios other than the m7 or m8.  All of the iND-bioses will work good.  If you try these and they still frag and the crom well will boot to a blank screen.  This is due to the fact you are useing svga connector you have to use the original cables that came with the xbox the yellow red and white only cabels.

Well then I am wondering if maybe it is the other pogo pins or something not getting connected try loosening and then tighting the screw down a bit and see if that changes anything.

looks like the d0 might have been shorting out aswell as alignment probs, im going to hook it up to the bottom instead and see if that fixes things.
