Usb Keyboard Problems
« on: October 08, 2004, 10:21:00 AM »

OK here's the deal, i have a problem using my USB keyboard with my xbox, i have posted a similar topic in the general hardware forum, but no one takes any notice of me (as always sad.gif ) Onto the problem.

When i load an XBE file, (i.e an app, an emulator, a dash, or linux for example), my USB keyboard doesn't work. Now for me to get the program to recognise it, i have to take the keyboard/USB adapter out of the controller port, then reconnect it. This is very annoying as every time i load something i gotta get up and walk over to the xbox, then disconnect/connect, then do it again if i load something else!!!!

Why am i posting this here you ask?? Well, no one else i know has had this problem, and i've heard that PBL has problems with USB initialization, but i'm not sure about the remakes. I am using Metoo by the way.

Now has anyone else here using exploits had this sort of problem with USB keyboards? It's not a problem with my controller, just my keyboard. I haven't used any other USB devices (yet) on my xbox apart from the keyboard, so i can't comment on those.

Please someone help.

sorry for triple post guys  sad.gif

ok i've spoken to one of the guys in the emulators forum below, he uses the same keyboard and usb, and never has a problem. he uses a modchip.

this means that it is almost definetly either bios or bios loader related. like i said earlier i am using metoo, but it has done it with this and pbl lite as well (never used pbl original), and the new evox m8 bfm bios that works with all games (done it with x2 bios as well).

can one of the pbl creators, preferably the one who created metoo suggest what could be causing this lack of usb detection?

Actually Rmenhal made Metoo. Anways I thought that USB initialization was fixed in the newer bios loader versions. But as a test you might try renaming your E:/default.xbe which I am assuming is Metoo and place the app's xbe file there (rename it to default.xbe and sign it with -habibi). Then you can see if it works. If it does it is definately the bios/bios loader (more likely the bios loader) but if it still doesn't then something else must be wrong.  wink.gif

i don't know how to sign stuff, and removing my bios loader is potentially dangerous.
does rhemnal know if there are any USB problems with metoo?

I can't believe you have over 1200 posts (a lot of which are in this section) and yet you still think it's dangerous to replace your bios loader. It is only dangerous if you don't know what you are doing and you don't have a gamesave exploit handy. You can sign stuff using xbedump which can be found in the usual places. Wait, you do know where the usual places are right?  laugh.gif  Anywho I don't know if there are any USB initialization problems with Metoo you might try checking out the Metoo thread or Pm'ing Rmenhal.  wink.gif

1.) As a matter of fact i do not have an exploitable game.

2.) I have never had the need to sign any applications.

3.) Yes i do know where the usual places are!!!!

total_ass I don't think jonathan2007 was trying to be rude, maybe a bit sacarstic but not rude.
You did use LTOOLS installer?? Right?? Then that has a backup which is the tray state, open/closed. Or did you remove that, can't remember now..
point is, it is really easy to sign an xbe, very easy if fact. Instead of saying I've never needed to do it so I won't, is ridiculous. The better asnswer would have be to ask how or how do I find out about it. You know better than anyone that there are a lot of very helpful people here at XS but some times you have to help yourself a little. no hard feelings, just know your quite capable of signing a XBE so why not at least learn about it. If you choose not to do it at least you could maybe help out someone else with it therefor spreading knowledge quicker. Just an opion so dont think I'm having a go cos I'm not.
