I keep hearing about the package that idots is releasing.  Am I correct that it is an autoinstaller for UXE, something similar to Slayers?

i wish. booting an installer cd (or any cd) on a virgin is the unachieved holy grail of modding. therefore idots is a gamesave. i believe as of this point idots uxe is in release candidate.

three options:

1) install uxe by hand with hotswap.

2) install idots by hotswap, and run idots with an exploitable game.

3) install idots by memcard, and run idots with an exploitable game.

#1 is cheapest, #3 is easiest. if you hotswap to a modded xbox, you can prolly do #1 by basically following my tut. ftp into the 'host' xbox.

Okay, I got it all sorted, I'm running a softmodded 1.6 PAL now! I just bought it yesterday. Since I didnt have a mem card and the games, I had to do everything using xboxhdm (unlocking via hotswap). I used the update.xbe from slayers 2.6 then patched it before including to the boot cd. Thanks for this guide, it had all the fundamental steps.   wink.gif

after checkin much tutorials on softmodding, and trying some with no good result, I found this one, and worked flawlessly!!!   biggrin.gif

I can't do however the last thing, which is getting the msdash patched.

When I run on command prompt the code pointet by the tutorial, it doesn't work, it just tells me cannot execute patcher.....

is there an alternative way to this?

thanks for this great tut!

grab a hex editor, change all instances of

fonts [ 00 66 00 6f 00 6e 00 74 00 73 ]

to

f0nts [ 00 66 00 30 00 6e 00 74 00 73 ]

Yes, it will.  I bought a brand new PAL v1.6 K:5838 crystal XBox on Friday and installed a new hard drive using xboxhdm and then used this tutorial to softmod it.  Works like a dream.
