Ahh so if i were to mess up, i would still be able to fix it without having to open the box up yeh?

Thats one of the best things about the exploit because it won't void warranty wink.gif

i would never make a guarantee.

but yes, barring rare circumstances it does seem to be a safe, reversible operation.

Just wanted to say thanks Frieko for the tutorial - the instructions are good & worked a treat on my Pal xbox K5101, D5659  biggrin.gif
This post should be pinned until Ltools1.8 final is released.

Cheers,

Paul

hi
im writing a little (linux) script to simpify this process, but i got 2 questions, just to make sure i dont screw
it up:

1. does Evox always save the eeprom backup in the same folder?
2. is there a linux alternative for Uberpatcher?

as for question 2: can i just use an already patched update.xbe on any other xbox? i've tried this already
and it worked fine, but i cant be sure if i was just lucky(eventho the original update.xbe was from a 1.6 xbox
and i used it to softmod a 1.0 xbox, on which i couldn't even find an update.xbe)

idots is already working on that, but anyway:

as far as i know, it always makes a folder next to its own xecutable file. aka x:\blah\evox.xbe makes x:\blah\backup

possibly, or pm pedrosPad or idots, they may be able to supply the needed information to help you make one.

yes. the update.xbe used is the same for all uxe installations. doesn't matter how it is created.

thanks for the info

btw, i thought idots's install scripts were executed from a within a savegame hack?
the script im writing will follow the exact procedure you desrcibe in your tutorial, i.e. connecting with
an ftp client to install the UXE/dashboard files
im writing this script for my own convenience, but i'll post it if anyone wants to have look at it

I keep hearing about the package that idots is releasing.  Am I correct that it is an autoinstaller for UXE, something similar to Slayers?  Is there any idea of when this pkg might come out.  I just want to know if I should go ahead and buy an exploitable game and memory card or not. Thanks.

With help from this tutorial and ldots' Xboxhdm, me and a friend just modded his new Crystal Xbox 1.6 PAL (k:5838/d:5659) with UXE and it worked fine!

Thanks! beerchug.gif

to use xboxhdm, you need the eeprom file, to get the eeprom file you need to use a savegame exploit... if you don't want to buy a memorycard, your only option is hotswapping(as far as i know)

yeah, ive passed that part already (did hotswapping), im just stuck on the part where I need to get the update.xbe and be able to patch it then put it back again (resulting xboxdash.xbe). I might as well ask If I can just include a prepatched update.xbe in the xboxhdm boot disc (i will get the original update.xbe using HDDriver then patch then finally include the generated xboxdash.xbe on xboxhdm boot iso)?? thanks!!

MechAssault and Splinter Cell have a patchable update.xbe. ISO one and grab it with Craxtion.

Probably most if not all 2002-ish live-enabled games do as well, those are the two I have in front of me.

EDIT: I take that back, they are the right length but wrong checksum. Oops  blink.gif
