im tellin ya, im pretty sure your xbox is defective. if you can get it going long enough to un-mod it, you should get warranty service.

Just for future reference, how would I uninstall this? Would it literally just be a case of FTPing to the Xbox, deleting everything from C and putting back on the C that I backed up previously?

It's worked great on my new 1.6 crystal Xbox. I'm really pleased with it.

Cool. So if a game required an update via Xbox Live I would be ok to do the following...

Copy contents of C drive to PC.
Erase C drive on Xbox.
Copy previously backed up, unmodded, C drive to Xbox C.
Update game.
Erase C drive on Xbox.
Copy backed up, modded, C drive to Xbox C.

Would this work ok or would I have to go through the whole process of softmodding again? I presume if it was a new version of the MS dashboard I was updating I'd have to go through the whole process again but what about for just updating games?

Yeah, I´ve tried everything now.
But if i return it to the shop, do they send it back to ms and get it fixed or could i get a new one?
I could put in a modchip but i suck at soldering and it´s a 1.6  so it´ll probably be alot harder than my other boxes...

i do it axectly the way you do (mmh, yes i always install the exploits manually wink.gif )
except the msdash part... i always hex edit it... didn't know, that there's a patcher for it ;p
so, thx for this "new" info tongue.gif

oh yeh.. and the uxe patch... always use the command line version... i think i'm too dumb to get this gui version to work :s (yes, i've installed the.NET framework)

this is the most detailed UXE thread IMHO all thanks to frieko.

here's what i've got, a crystal 1.6 running K:5838
i've got a usb flash drive that works (it formatted when i plugged in to the xbox and came up as a memcard in memory)

Qn.1::i'm guessing here that i HAVE to use AR to transfer the exploit to the flash drive in order to gain ftp access? i've tried to just transfer the files from winxp to the xbox but it just formats the flash drive.

Qn2:: i've downloaded from xbins, SC save exploit with evox, how is the process going to be different from your tute in this thread? i.e, what files do i have to transfer to the xbox? i'm just a little confused with whats happening coz there's info everywhere

i guess i can follow the tute after i've gained ftp access  beerchug.gif

i remember seeing a tute with the guy saying that usb devices don't work with the 1.6 boxes... SO NOT TRUE!!!! i've got my noname usb stick to work, but my sony memory stick in my dsc u20 digi cam didn't work.

i think only <32MB sticks work :s but i'm not sure...

for the splinter cell question:

get the splinter cell package from xbins... PAL or NTSC.. whatever you need
(i use the Splintercell_save_With_Evox_PAL)
as you cannot simply up this to your memory card, because of the 2 memory files in it, simply unpack the folder.

you will get a UDATA folder with 2 subfolders (21585554 and 5553000c)
now open up the 21585554 folder and edit the evox.ini for ftp access (located in 21585554\000000000000)

ok.. now comes the tricky part:

make a new folder UDATA somewhere and put your 21585554 folder in it (with the edited evox.ini). now zip this UDATA folder (*.zip... *.rar won't work)

do the same with the 5553000c folder
you'll then have 2 *.zips:

thanks pza, was looking for that bit of info everywhere.

correct me if i'm wrong here:
-i'm using a usb stick that formats to fatx when i plug it into the xbox, do i then plug this stick into my pc and transfer the zip files from there? is that supposed to happen w/o any other software? coz when i try and transfer those files to the fatx formatted stick, it wants to format to fat32. and when i do, plug it into the xbox and it formats to fatx again, writing everything off.

i know i'm missing something here to bridge the gap. trying to find the answer that's obviously in here somewhere. but the google search isn't helping a lot.

edit:: i think i may have found the answer in this thread.

Hello,

I must sound as a total n00b, but I usually mod xbox'es bij de TSOP method... Anyway cus of the v1.6 I cant modd them that away,  the way I usually flash the bios is by loading raincoat from the savegame I copied.
BUT I dont have any idea how to load up a temporary evolution X dash because I always get raincoat loaded  huh.gif
Anyway I would really appreciate if anyone could tell me if it is possible to load a temporary EVOx with the 007 savegame/game. And if so, is there a tutorial for it ?
Or is it THAT easy that you can tell it me in a forum thread.

Regards

wink.gif

if you have original 007 game... then you'll only need the hacked savegame from the usual place and (!!!) a way to load this savegame from your pc to your memorycard (Action Replay, friend with modded xbox or selfmade xbox controller 2 pc cable + memory card)

edit the ftp settings in evox.ini (hacked save game) and upload to your memory card... now upload it from memory card to xbox hdd, boot up 007, load the hacked savegame and now you'll be able to ftp to your xbox!
