You have changed the directory at the command prompt to the one containing the patcher and xbe haven't you?  If not type cd <directory path> where <directory path> is the full path of the directory.  eg if your files are in c:\patcher then type cd c:\patcher and then run it.

If I wanted to use MXM instead of Evox would it literally just be a case of replacing Step 12? i.e. instead of copying evoxdash.xbe, evox.ini and skins onto C: I put the MXM files and I all the other steps would be the same?

basically yeah. it depends on your bios to what .xbe is point to. if you use the bios used on this tut (metoo-m8pack-v1.2.zip) you have to rename the .xbe you have to evoxdash.xbe

So, in theory, I could just rename the MXM dashboard to evoxdash.xbe? Is there a metoo bios for MXM?

yes, that will work fine. and since it does work, there is no need for another version of metoo.

if you want to make things difficult for yourself, you COULD download a bios patcher app and make the kernel look elsewhere, but you're on your own on that one...  wink.gif

How does Idots do it in his installers? I know in UDE I used to select MXM but I'm not sure if it was just renamed evoxdash.xbe. The only thing that's worrying me is that, because EvoX is the most popular dash MS are most likely gonna scan for evoxdash.xbe if they scan for anything.

First of all let me say AWESOME! and thanks to all the people involved  smile.gif

I have now applied this exploit to my XBOX and a couple of my friend's XBOXes who weren't brave enough to try. (kernels: 4034, 4817, 5101, 5713 and 5838)

All work perfectly using the updatefonts71 bert-xxxx-01.xtf (where xxxx = kernel version) and ernie.xtf in the fonts folder and the usual other changes.

Now what worries me:  Some of us play 007 AUF so we delete the Hacked 007 AUF Gamesave from the HDD (it wouldn't work with other Gamesaves anyway).  Now if a problem occurs that means we cannot boot the M$ Dash then we cannot copy the Hacked Gamesave over to the HDD so even though the original 007 AUF DVD will run from the M$ Bios from booting the XBOX with the game in the drive the Hacked Gamesave doesn't run direct from the Memory Card.

So a question for all you Gurus:  does anybody know of a 007 AUF Gamesave that will run directly from the memory card and give FTP access to the HDD?  This way nobody could kill their HDD because the original M$ kernel is always intact and will boot the game DVD first.  Theoretically even with an empty C: you could still boot an original game and if the Hacked Gamesave would run from the memory card then you could always FTP in and recover the needed files.

Sorry for the long first post but it's the only hole I can see and I'm sure somebody can fix it!

I have a little problem...
I used this mod to softmod my 1.6 Pal crystal box(k:5838/d:5659) It all work just fine for about a week until now. I played a game, then it suddenly frooze.. so i powerd it of. And the when i powered it on again there was no video, and the light flashes green 2-3 times then starts to flash red/green. Also, when i finaly got the dvd drive open i kept it open while i tried to reboot and it closes really slow and goes in one inch then pauses then another inch...

oh my, that's a tough break. my first impression is that you have a defective xbox or other hardware failure. have you opened the case at all? how long have you had it? is it still returnable/exchangeable?

the 3 reboots then poweroff means that the kernel is unable to start at all. the PIC controller tries a few resets and then gives up.

you should start a new topic and ask for help. ask if a dead EEPROM or harddisk can cause this problem, i'm not sure if they can or not.

I´ve had the box for about a month. last night i tried to boot it about 2 hours after it froose and the light flashed green 2 times then just bootet normally. Could it have been a clock loop problem?
Anyway great tutorial :-)

Hi guys, i'm gonna follow this tut to softmod my brand new crystal xbox. But, i'm allready stuck..

The action replay doesn't read the splinter cell save game, any idea's on what to do on this? it are 2 files, what to do about them? i rarred thelm both, none of them are valid it says and i rarred then the 2 rars to one rar, also not valid  uhh.gif

and what about the metoo-m8pack-v1.2.zip? i only found this: metoo-m8pack-beta1
is that also good? if not, can someone tell me in what directory i have 2 look in xbins, in here or pm. thx
