I think it's easier to just softmod the XBox first with UDE2 (the greatest softmod out there).  Then make a backup of the eeprom using on of the saved game hacks.

Then you just send over the contents of the C: and E: drive and put the backedup eeprom in the eeprom folder.  Then make the linux cd and burn it to some form of medium.

Then use xbhdm 1.9, with the new Xbox harddrive the primary master device.  Have your optical device on the secondary controller.  No problems here.

Sometimes when I use step #1 to build a new HDD from scratch it gives me an error, so I just reboot and reformat the drive with #5, then when I do #1 again it goes through fine.

Step #6 generates the proper locking key, after that it's a piece of cake.

To me, that's the easiest way to go.

It sounds like your using the wrong UDE files, there is a UDE package for xboxhdm which you should be using. They are found in the same place as the xboxhdm was found and call UDE_1.4.zip, this is specific to LTOOLS, you can't just use any UDE files.

Either that or your not creating the ISO correctly, explain extactly when and where it gives this error.

I was also trying to use this method. Although, I am using a new 40gig HD that I formatted, I then put it in xboxhdm and created the xbox partition and everything. Then it aksed me for the C and E drive which I dont have. And then when I tried to install UDE through xboxhdm (also using that tutorial above), I got an error saying it couldnt find update.xbe. And it said something like it searched in E/UDATA/(then some line)/(another line of numbers and letters)/files, and somewhere oc C/xodash i believe. What Am I doing wrong, Is it because I didnt have the C and E drive to put in although I used the option in xboxhdm to create a new xbox HD? Thanx
