Broken Xbox
« on: October 02, 2004, 03:46:00 AM »

hey all,
My xbox died a few weeks ago, but he is not buried yet. It gave a no dvd drive found error, so I decided to buy a new one, as it was less hassle. Now I have a spare (but broken) box.

Is there anyway to get Evox or whatever you guys use now onto my xbox without a dvd drive? I don't want to do any soldering, but don't mind doing things like shoving the xbox drive in my pc

the dvd drive check is implemented in the retail xbox kernel so you can't acomplish that with just softmods. You will have to get a chip. Get a solderless one if you don't like to solder.

Actually there is one thing you can try without soldering, that might trick the xbox into thinking the dvdrom is still there.

Depending on where the xbox is failing.

But it is for advanced users only, so pm me if your interested.
