As noted in my sig, I run 5659 without the LIVE tab. I accomplish this by simply renaming c:\xodash\ to c:\xodash_\, which conveniently makes the LIVE tab disappear, while keeping te dash version intact. I've been doing this since 4920.
I realize this is merely cosmetic, but I don't use LIVE, and would rather have a clean, mimimal dash.
I just got the latest OXM demo, 37 with outrun LIVE on it. I thought, "great. a perfect way to get 5960". I like having the latest dash, so gthere's less chance of anything doing a forced upgrade.
So, I rename \xodash_ to \xodash uninstall the UDE, and click the outrun demo. It immediately updates the dash (without asking and without a network cable, I might add). Sure enough, I have 5960. Reinstall UDE, keeping my biosLD & dashboard settings. I go to msdash. 5960 with the live tab.
Opps, need to fix that. I rename \xodash to\xodash_ & reboot. UDE loads, and I click my msdash. Error 21.
I try some renaming experiments, to be sure. THe 5960 dash REQUIRES the xodash folder intact, something the previous dashs didn't. My solution: go back to 5659 until needed, lol
Just an FYI to those who may be interested.
