hey thanks for the post but it came little late LOL because I read in one of the form about mxm.xml and was able to change the setting according to my needs.. now I can ftp without changing my network settings and now I'm in the process of install PBL ude1 and it's going on as we speak I guess the IP setting had some sort of conflict was was posting errors... now it's going through... BTW I have v 1.0
hoefully this is the last error I'll run into and be able to run burned copies of games and dvds...
Is there any other suggestion you can point out to me?? I planned to use my xbox for burned copies of games and DVD movies...  no xlive nor mp3.

during the process of UDE1 with PBL 1.4.1 with evox it ran fine and then the screen went black and the LED is holding at orange.... is it suppose to do that or is it done and let's me know that it's finished??

not supposed to do that, when its done the led will flash green.   maybe you should try a different bios loader, like the pbl metoo or pbl-lite, i dont reallly know if that will work but worth a shot

I have ran xbox for several hours now and still nothing I think it just got stuck anyways gonna uninstall and redo it for other PBL

Odd... do you have the latest version of the UDE installer? Also, what D:/K: are you running? Lastly, is it a PAL box or NTSC? All of these are factors in deciding which choices you make during the install.

I believe it's the latest one i've downloaded it from the #xbins and my xbox is v1.0
with d:k:4034 and it's region 01 so NTSC

BTW third time tried to do the metoo version and i got stuck in the same place... the screen is blank and LED is orange...

Theres your problem. You have a pre-live dash. You don't have a Live tab on your originial M$ dash, and you also don't have a "Fonts" folder on your C drive. I'd be willing to bet if you upgrade the dash to the 4920, then run the installer, all your xbox dreams will come true lol.

My suggestion is the Slayers Auto Installer (unpack that iso with quix, xiso or
something along those lines), then ftp into your box, delete everything on C: and ftp the files from the RETAIL/ALL/C directory to your box and you've got yourself the 4920 dash.

An alternative is to use a Live enabled game (return to castle wolfenstein has the 4920 dash) and select Xbox Live. It'll upgrade the dash for you without requiring you to connect to anything. Give those options a shot and let us know how you make out. Feel free to PM me if you really get stuck.

hi i'm currently in process of downloading slayer anyways so from what i understand is all i need to do to update my dash is just overwrite all the contents inthe C directory with the ones from slayer??? just extract it and copy it over?? is that that simple???

I think the ltool version of MA is possibly corrupted it's ltools_MA_v1.7.5
I've been able to update my dash to k 4034 d 5960 on my v1.0 xbox and ran the UDE install and still hanged... so I was wondering if someone is kind enough to provide or direct me to properly working version of the ltools_MA files.

Anyways, glad to hear you got the dash working, sorry for the mis-information about the dir on the slayers disk. As far as the package goes, it IS possible that it's been corrupted. If you can launch a gamesave exploit or whatever to ftp into the box, you could just ftp the contents of the UDATA folder from the ltools zip file. Unpack it on your pc and just copy the 4541000d folder into E:\UDATA. Then launch the gamesave as usual and you should have the ltools MXM dashboard running.

hi remedee hm sorry to hear about your state, its very unfortunate times for people in FL... anyways, let me clarify the problem I have I have the mxm dashboard running and my dash is 5960 and kernel is 4034 on xbox 1.0. from the mxm menu i go to install UDE and go through all the choices and it runs but after it runs through the isntall all of sudden the screen turn black and lef orange and it just sits like that... from what I read on other forums... it could be that my update.xbe is missing or corrupted or something.... and I was trying to extract the update.xbe from the slayer iso and tried it and still nothing. i'm thinking the only was to softmod my xbox is hdd swapping, but what if that doesn't work either??? I want to see if I can correct this issue using soft mod since I don't wnat to do no HDD swapping.
