Ltools Causing Scrambled Screen

I'm trying to install UDE2 off the ltools on a friends box. D 5659 K 4040. While installing the UDE2, the screen went to shit and I couldn't make out anything. So I waited about 15 minutes, hoping that the install was done and I turned off the box. Booted back up and EvoX popped up but with no FTP access. The only difference between his box and others I've seen is that he uses the Monster A/V cables. I don't know if that matters but I thought I would just let you know. Thanks in advance.
