Warning: Star Wars Trilogy Dvd Extras Disc
« on: September 21, 2004, 10:59:00 AM »

OK if you have purchased the Star Wars Trilogy DVD, then running the Extras Disc in the Xbox will automatically update it the moment the disc is run, this is unavoidable, and i am unable to watch it in my XBox because i have 4920 Dash and it will not find the f0nts to update. I am stuck because i really want to watch this DVD in my XBox. And i do not possess an exploitable game.

Is it possible for me to manually update my dash by replacing some of the files or is uninstalling the UDE and buying an exploitable game my only choice? I really really want to watch this so help is much appreciated.  <

Buy a standalone DVD player or intersert it after DVD-X2 has been loaded.

i have a standalone dvd player but there is a demo on the disc for an xbox game that i want to play, it requires it to be played in the xbox.

back to the point, is manual updating possible?  <

it's done the same way as downgrading the dash. Basically you just replace the files. First delete the old ones then transfer the new ones. The files needed are the (hexed ms)xboxdash.xbe, the xodash folder and the dashdata folder with the number behind it. Make sure you don't accidentally replace the UDE's xboxdash.xbe.   <

ok thanks dude. ok being as the UDE is a dashboard exploit, would incorrectly upgrading the dash or accidently deleting it cause my xbox to not boot?  <

yeah you need to stay of the xbox's xboxdash.xbe and the fonts folder.  <

the xboxdash and the fonts don't need to be changed do they? if that's the case then i don't really need to worry about deleting the ms dash and not being able to boot do i?  <

ok thanks again, you are really helpful. so the files that the UDE use don't need to be changed to update the files? does this mean that MS cannot nuke the UDE with dashboard updates?  <

I never saw or heard about a UDE exploited xbox that was killed by a dashupdate cuz of the reason that is wants to load the font files. If it wasn't for that the updating xbe would ofcourse see the xboxdash.xbe the ude  uses as a normal dashboard xbe and overwrite it. That would definatley mess up your exploit.

i didn't mean auto-updating killing the exploit, i mean a future dashboard that isn't exploitable.  <

yeah that's the point of the UDE. It doesn't use anything of the dashboard on bootup therefore it cannot be killed by any new dashboard.  <

excellent i feel completely safe now as long as i have the latest dash.

is there a way that they can make a game/app check for fonts anyway even if the latest dash is installed? cos that would mean that the ude would fail.  <
