Clock Problem And Matrix Chip
« on: December 16, 2004, 10:46:00 PM »

Hey guys,

I have a v1.0 xbox and a friend recently gave me a matrix chip.  It istalled without a problem and it is happily blinking green.  I am attempting to install slayers auto installer 2.6 but am having a problem that I think is related to the x box clock.

Every time I boot up the xbox, with or without the chip, it wants me to reset the clock.  From what I understand, this causes the MS bios to load, even tho the chip is in place  BEcause of this, I cannot get the isntaller to work.  The chip was given to me with the evox bios on it.

Even when installed, i still get the MS dashboard.  Is this because of the clock?  what should I see if the chip is working and the bios on the chip boots?

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Your chip is not properly aligned.  Keep repositioning and you will get it.  Sometimes, eventhough the lights are on, the chip is still not aligned completely.  Also, has the chip been flashed properly with a bios?  If it is empty, the chip will not do anything.  Good luck.

Well quite honestly you need a newer bios that skips the clock.  There is a new bios for the matrix that does not require doing a clock check.  Since the clock is always going to load the ms dash.  But there still is hope getting everything installed.  You hacked bios is still loading after you set the time you can then place the slayers cd into the drive and run it.  If it does not run then check the chip for alignment again.  You might need to loosen the screw since haveing that tooo tight will cause the matrix not to seat all the way haveing a pogo pin not getting contact.

Does the iND bios 5003 fit on the matrix?  if it does, will it skip the clock check?

TIA

Yes it will fit and yes it skips the clock check.  All new bioses will fit the 256k sized ones the normal size everything is writen in.  Only os bins are 1mb and should not be used on a mod not designed for.
