my friend gave me an xbox to look at. It has a matrix chip when it boots it says matrix inside on the bottom.

he complained since he got the xbox when they save games they cant find them.

I never used xbcopy and i dont know how to configure it.  I backed up a game to see where it went . i found it as xbcopy001 or something. Not sure how to configure so I instead loaded dvd2xbox 0.6.1

i set up all the crazy directorios he has for games ie action, sports, driving etc
i backed up a small game atvfury2 to the driving directory it shows up but locks at the first screen with a dolby logo on it

I also noticed if i am in dvd2xbox when i hit the 2 triggers and the black button to exit it does not it seems to lock there too.

the mod is old i think it has an evox dash vers 1.8.3285  Bios vers evox 2.5 colormod.err ybox

i was going to try 2 things 1 is update the dash and 2 update the bios

I got to thinking i have no knowledge of the matrix chip  what the bios size is
what program to use to flash it , there seems to be no switch to turn it on or off so i wonder if there is any flash protection

just come to think of it Im not even sure if there is a chip installed maybe just a tsop

anyone familiar with matrix please help me out i would appreciate it.

in the mean time ill try a different game


Oh also the IGR does not work is it a different set o buttons or the typical 2 triggers black and back button. Thanks alot guys hope to hear some feedback soon

You will need to update the bios on the matrix to a newer one.  Plus the oler games and such will need to have to have evox auto config the drive that the games are being put on and it should work fine.  Just direct it to the folder the xbcopy001 resides and you should see the stuff.  But still will need to update the bios and or run a program on the default.xbe to patch it.

I installed dvd2xbox and added all the game directiories
I want to flash the bios what can i use to flash it  Configmagic ??

I want to put the executor bios 4981.06 can i use that ??
What size is the flash ?? 256 1Mb I have no idea

not sure if i mentioned but i backed up atv fury 2 and it locks up then i tried ghost recon which worked just fine

also when i try to back out of a program for example dvd2xbox it just bives me a blank screen and i need to power off then back on

does it all sound like bios issues or what

Basically what program can i flash the bios with and what bios do i use let me know Thanks alot so far

Ok use evox to flash your bios there is a evox faq that wil tell you how and all.
The lockups are very common in the excuter and evolution bioses of old.  The had memory holes and that caused program to lock up if there were buggy code in them.  The new bioses have corrected this hole but does not mean the error are entirely the bios fault the codes that some of the programs are writen in still have problems but the problems are not happening anymore.
