Ude On/off Script
« on: August 06, 2004, 04:12:00 PM »

i got this idea from checking out ldots UDE memcard installer/uninstaller. the reason i switched from font/audio to UDE is so that i would be able to play live games. then i found out from angerwound that when you want to play live with UDE you still need to uninstall it so that you could recieve the live updates. the way that i was previously doing it was just loading up the gamesave hack and adding/removing the files necessary to install/uninstall UDE. then i got this idea from the font/audio on/off script i had for my previous font/audio exploit. just a simple script.

i just added the 5960 xboxdash.xbe (renamed to 5960xboxdash.bak) to the root of C. here are the pics of the UDE on and off:

UDE Off:

i don't know if this will help anyone. i just thought it was more convinient for what i was doing.

credit for the initial idea of this goes to ldots for his excellent memcard UDE auto installer/remover.

EDIT: just wanted to clarify some things. chicken scratch boy pointed out that if you do plan on using this script then you must tailor it to your needs. for my box, i'm using bert-4817-01.xtf. so if you plan on using a different bert font then you must change that in the script. also if you do plan on doing this make sure you have all the files in your C drive. otherwise you will noob it up.

i'm not sure, i installed mine manually. after i installed UDE all i did was take the 5960's xboxdash.xbe and renamed it to 5960xboxdash.bak and put it in the root of the C. when the UDE is deactivated the xboxdash.xbe is renamed to updatexboxdash.bak and the 5960xboxdash.bak is renamed to xboxdash.xbe. upon reboot you go to the MS dash. you can try it with ldots memcard installation. i don't see why it wouldn't work.

yea i had this idea about a month ago
CODE

[Action_10]

Info "Activate UDE"
Warning "UDE will be on "
Progress "Turning on UDE..."
rename "c:\fonts" "c:\f0nts"
rename "c:\bert_ate_ernie.bak" "c:\bert_ate_ernie.xtf"
rename "c:\xboxdash.xbe" "c:\orgxboxdash.bak"
rename "c:\modxboxdash.bak" "c:\xboxdash.xbe"

and then i just had the opposite to turn it back off. i use the gamesave exploit to turn it on and the ude to turn it off so i have them in two different ini's but its still pretty much the same. this works awesome with live

I have a UDE EEE switch script but it wouldn't be usefull when the dash gets upgraded and the EEE is killed. Would need the gamesave again also. Ah it's fun for now at least. Too bad I don't use live.

This looks great &b all, but doesn't just clicking "Uninstall UDE" from ltools do this? In effect, ltools has it's own LIVE switch, right?

Yes. Pretty much the same thing. Except ltools leaves C: in a retail state (scan that M$), and does some tests on whether it's safe to turn UDE off (if the retail dash files/fonts are found).
But I guess JBNinja doesn't use ltools wink.gif

id prefer some sort of dynamic switch, 2 inis, and the flop each other.

heck just have the one in the MA save different, only activate

and the one you use normally only deactivate.

that'd be my 2 cents, but i never turn of the exploit
