Hd Problems? Need Help!
« on: November 30, 2004, 11:37:00 PM »

Howdy, I have a revision 1.1 Xbox with a Matrix chip installed running Evo X..  All my backups work fine and have since I installed the chip a few years ago, can't remember what I flashed it with... Anyway, purchased a HDTV (Samsung) and a HD component output box, finally got around to getting it together and ended up putting in my 480P/720P socket, now I have no splash screen (the Xbox startup blob) but my Evo X will come up fine, most games work although some won't, always flashes "Unsupported Mode," on the screen, if I pull the vid cables and go into my standard component input (480i) it is fine but games look dark/not upscanning.  I also tried placing it in my 480p/720p/1080i input, similar problems with less actually playing.  What am I doing wrong, and yes, I've navigated to the MS Dash and set the video to go to said limits, ie all the progressive modes...  Anyway, when it works it's good, when it doesn't, it's a bitch to pull the plugs and move it around, am I stuck at 480i?  Is there something I can do to get the splash to come up at progressive modes?

Thanks so much, sorry if this is redundant, I looked thru the forum for a few hours and am sick of the search :uhh:

Well have you gone into the ms dahs board and told it you have hdtv.  Somegames will not work in 720p or 480p and you have to tell it what to do in the ms dash if I remember correctly.  I also think this will correct the blob at the start also.

Yeah, the MS Dash is set, the blob isn't showing at all and still have the problems above, is it something that I need to do with the matrix chips

Just flashed the Matrix with Slayer's latest on Evo X v2.5, have my Xbox hooked into the component inputs for 480P, 720P and 1080i, everything is on on the MS Dash..  Backyard Wrestling 2 works if I physically move the input to my 480i/p on the tv, no screen on 480p/720p or 1080i inputs...  Is this just the way the Xbox functions with HD resolutions, no auto negotiating downwards?  Kinda shitty if so, somebody please shed some light.. And oh, for  the hell of it I bought the new MS HD cables in lieu of my older box style HD/cable set- same problems though...

Well sorry but this is really not a mod chip question more of a xbox hardware question.  Nobody here is going to know what you will need. I am not able to provide you with info on stuff like that.  My suggestion is to call 18004myxbox and find out how a normal xbox should work.  If they say that is not normal then try the iND-bios 5003 then the x2 4983 and lastly the evox m8+ bios.  If this still does not work then the mod chip makers were not thinking of the 480p and up resolutions and you will have to goto one of their forums and request that in their next version.
