Complete Xbins/ltools Tutorial

Ok, since a lot of you are having trouble with mIRC and xbins, here’s a tutorial for you.  Remember, you can get whatever you want from xbins, but there is a 30 file/day limit and if you exceed it you will be temporarily banned.

Stuff you need (all free/shareware):

mIRC

SmartFTP (or Flashfxp, whatever, just some FTP client besides IE or Leechftp)

Just a note, FlashFXP is always better, but if you don't like paying for stuff like me, UltraFXP will suffice.  If you are using UltraFXP, Control+F will do a site search (look for whatever file you want on xbins), and FlashFXP is Control+R for the same feature.


  1.  Open mIRC, and this box will pop up.  If your 30 day trial has expired, like mine has, just wait a few seconds and press continue.  Otherwise, you’ll be able to right away.



2.  mIRC options will pop up.  Use anything for your nick and secondary nick.  You don’t necessarily have to have your real name or email address either, just something besides “lekalkrhlwkearlkhlkg” will do.



3.  Press the + next to Connect, and go to Servers.  Use the second dropdown menu to select a server.  I prefer this one:



4.  Then click Connect To Server.  Some stuff will happen, and you’ll hear a “donk donk” noise from Windows.  That’s normal.  Here’s a sample of what you’ll see:



5.  Eventually this will come up.  Type #xbins in the box, as show, and click Join.



  6.  You should hear more “donk donking” fairly quickly.  If you see red text, like this, that’s a good thing.



  7.  If you bothered to actually read any of the red text (you should), you would see that you have to do something now:  select the bolded text, /msg xbins !list, with your mouse.  mIRC will automatically put it on the clipboard for you.  Now click in the white space and the bottom, and right click > Paste or use Control+V.  Then press enter.



  8.  Nothing will happen for a second, probably, and then you’ll here more “donk donking.”  You should see a flashing red thing at the top that says xbins.  Click it.



  9.  You’ll see your username and password now, in the message.  This is what you need to connect to the FTP for xbins.  You have to go through steps 1-8 EVERY TIME you want to get a file from xbins.

10.  Now it’s time to open up your FTP client.  I’ll be using the free client, UltraFXP, for mine.  Fill in the connection settings, including the FTP address and your username and pass, and click the Connect button.



 11.  This tut is just for ltools, but you can whatever other files you want, too.  Open the following highlighted directories on xbins:













 12.  At last, you’re there.  Depending on whatever game you have, download the according file.  If you don’t know how to download from FTP, either open a local window in your FTP client, or simply drag the file out onto your desktop or into a folder.  Either way works.

You’re done!  You now have ltools.  The 007 and MA are ready to go on the memcard.  The Splinter Cell one requires one more step: extraction the .rar with Winrar, and transfer both zip files within to the memcard.

they can go to
MACSAT.com and use a java based IRC client.

Doesn't a tutorial like this have questionable legality? It's basically direct linking to XDK xbes...

no he's linking to a method of getting xbes, i don't think that is illegal. he's not exactly linking to the actual file, and besides ltools is perfectly legal.

nope, it isnt illegal, there isnt a single DIRECT LINK,

some though is still required to reach xbins like...switch on youer computer..

Great tut but!

You should really add to it, I mean, dont just limit it to getting ldots package, tell them how to search for example:

"Ctl + R" then "SITE SEARCH query"

Also, warn about downloading "too much" I remember getting banned my first time

isn't the file limit for xbins something like 20, 25? if you get banned how long is it for? (not that it makes a difference cos i got a dynamic ip   )

the file limit is 30 perday, thats plenty for me anyway!

p.s. im sure when they ban you its probally for like a day  and they will probally ban your ip range so it doesnt matter if you have a dynamic ip !

Well the tutorial doesn't mention site searching (Besides it says Ctrl+R for FlashFXP, hopefully people realize thats yes, another program), so they shouldn't even bother with it, and people should be stupid enough to realize yes, connections do time out...

It clearly says downloading too much will get you banned...

Your $0.02 doesn't make alot of sense.
