Controller Modding

I know this isnt the right forum, but maybe can help as it helps in the UDE process.

Disclaimer:
I cannot be help accountable for any errors that this tutorial contains, or any damage that the use of this tutorial may cause. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. This is just a guide.

1. Tools you will need.
   Official MS XBOX Controller, BIG or "S" Type both work (Other may or may not work!)
   Official MS XBOX Memory Card (Other may or may not work! Use at your own risk.)
               Soldering Knowledge (OPTIONAL)
   Electrical Tape
   Any standard USB cable with the TYPE-A head available.

2. Software you will need.
   A XBOX Controller Driver (Google XID for a basic driver.)
   Xbox Action Replay Software (I'll let you handle this)

Step 1
 You will be dealing with the controller cord only, so if the short connector is there please remove it before starting.
 DO NOT CUT THE SHORT ADAPTER PIECE, ONLY THE XBOX CONTROLLER CORD.

   About 18" from the end of the controller cord, cut it, and strip both ends of the cord about 1" and the inside wires about 1/4"-1/2"

   Inside the cords are 5 Colored Wires and 1 Braided ground. Connect all of these wires back to the
   matching colors of the other end, but dont tape them yet.
              You can tape the 2 connecting yellow wires togther, these are not needed for USB, only controller

Step 2

   Find a USB connector and cut it 18" from the TYPE-A Head.
   Strip the wires about 1" and the internal wires about 1/4"-1/2".
   You should notice there are 4 wires and 1 Braided ground.

Step 3
   The matching wire colors should be connected to the controllers wires.
   USB-White -> XBOX-White   :Data
   USB-Black -> XBOX-Black   :Internal Ground
   USB-Green -> XBOX-Green :Data
   USB-RED - > XBOX-Red    :+5v   (Make sure you tape this one good)

   Connect these wires using electrical tape, or solder them if you know how.

When you are satified that the wires are tapes, and not comming lose, you should be ready to test the controller.
First test it out on the xbox, it should control every thing normal if it does then continue reading, if it doesnt, check your wires, and connections again.

Step 4
   Connect it to the PC, and Windows should find new hardware automatically, if not check your connections again.
   It will find new hardware, but it wont know whay type of hardware, so it will ask to find driver, manually point it to
   where you unzipped the XID package, and it will install these drivers.

   UNPLUG & REPLUG YOUR CONTROLLER (It should now be in your game controller panel in control panel)

Step 5
   Install Action Replay is you havent already. While the controller is plugged into the computer, insert a memory card.
   This will invoke the Found new Hardware again, only this time, we want to point it to look for drivers in the Action
   Replay Drivers DIR.  Default=C:\Program Files\Driver\". Once this driver is installed, then Action Replay will see
   Your memory card.

Step 6
   Fire up Action Replay, and copy a save game from PC Database to Memory Card, and in a few short minutes, you should be able to
   Plug the controller into the xbox, and copy that save game from the memory card, to the hard drive.

I hope this article works for you and is in some way benefical. If you cannot get this to work for you, Please I cannot stress enough
CHECK YOUR CONNECTIONS, make sure no 2 wires are touching,  did you reconnect the grounding braid.
I will update this with pictures when I get a chance.
