Ude/ude2 On Xbox Live Tutorial
« on: July 29, 2004, 04:55:00 AM »

Well alot of request later...

Here u r guys A Simple & Straight forward means to playing Xbox Live on ur UDE/UDE2 xbox :)

EASY STEPS TO USING UDE/UDE2 ON XBOX LIVE

1. Have Your Xbox in a Retail State (No Exploit Whatsoever)

2. Setup Your xbox live account & let XBL Upgrade/Update Your Current MS Dashboard & All Your XBL Games from your Collection to the Latest Version Automatically.

3. Install UDE/UDE2 Softmod Exploit. And to be safe always choose a XBL Safe BFM Bios like X2 4980-81 booting Red Led so U know if its on.

4. Boot with a retail game inside the drive (the game has to be in it when you turn on the xbox) and it will bypass UDE/UDE2.

Some Added Info advised From devz3ro Thanks devz3ro :)

"As long as you upgrade your dash to the latest version and all your games with the latest updates, it is possible to go on xbox live without being banned (with an original of course).

I guess for a solution to when a new dashboard is released, create a gamesave exploit that reverts the dashboard back to its original state. Then after the updates are installed, re-install UDE1 / UDE2."

Now you can go into XBL safely from the retail game.

Enjoy Mate, We all did  :)

So Are all the posts of

It checks you have your original Hard Disk

It looks for unofficial files on C

etc.

All rubbish and I'm guessing if so from people who went on live with a non M$ bios loaded so got banned because of that ?

Dai_UK :)

When u Boot up ur Retail Game the Legit D:/Default.xbe Kicks in, which in return uses the Retail Bios on ur xBox thus bypassing UDE & of course the hacked bios.

It works as a Boot Disc in a way.

Anyway its already Proven to work by everyone whos followed my easy steps :D

Very simple, i like it, i suppose it was always seen as common knowlege to me that this would occour, however, as Ive never used live! I havent had a chance to test it out..

nice to get the info out there smile.gif well done  beerchug.gif

I think this would also work with mechfonts or maybe even older ones too. in the past people (like me) developed audio/font code so users only connected to live! with the st.db file in a hacked state, sort of uber parraniod i suppose tongue.gif

Would be nice to use the live dash however, there are similer codes that could be scripted to turn "off" ude but switching it back "on" would be the issue for hotswappers and people without hackable games...

yeah nice compact and acurate tut. Guess it was needed cuz many of the people around don't know live was a posibility with ude.
Maybe nice to add is that when live tries another update in the future and it fails you will have to uninstall the ude and go live in a retail state and let it update again and then reinstall the UDE. (sounds obvious but I'm sure some people get paranoid after there live game stops working)

Thanks Mate :D

The Intention was to make it compact & straight to the point

Any other suggestion would be very much Welcomed :)

Btw, havent had any New live Updates yet from the BiG M, except for the XBL Game Update.xbe & download.xbe protocol nothing else that disrupts the Daily operation of UDE/UDE2 :)

But will post on any New outcomes.

mmm, I have a few questions about it, I know it really a simple steps, but I still don't get it, before anything, I don't have a live account or anything to try it, but in the past font exploits (before UDE), booting with an original game and going live was a sure Ban from M$, so in what differs booting with UDE installed, I thought that when you go live, the live system checked that you don't have any modified file on C, appart from the bios and kernell, and such, so, with UDE installed, the xboxdash.xbe is the update.xbe, and there's a fonts dir renamed o f0nts, etc. so, in what does this differs from the other xploits? (on live! subject, of course) please an explanation would be VERY apreciated....

it does not differ from other exploits. If you boot with the game inside the dvd's default.xbe is triggered before the exploit get triggered and therefore leaving you with a retail kernel. This was also posible with old exploits. The important thing is to have live up and running before you install the exploit. M$ doesn't scan your hd files.

wink.gif  laugh.gif I'll explain very simply. XBL Live isn't affected if the the xbox has already been updated for in the XBL server it checks to see if you have updated the XBL configuration. I'd honestly rephrase everything here; Your loading the default.xbe from the D drive as d:default.xbe which means while playing the XBL game it would not need to load the xboxdash.xbe unless XBL was not updated to your virgin xbox correctly. At most the xbox will need to load xonlinedash.xbe to go through the troubleshooter to find your XBL connection.

1) Make sure that if you play Xbl live that you do not chose to update your dash at ANYTIME when playing the xbox original game for the update will kill your xbox files (backups of c: are good for this reason!)

2) Use the New Ude 2, PBL Metoo and whatever bios that corresponds to your Xbox Kernal Version...look it up in the pin section if you do not know...This will allow you to be able to use the newest dashboard version 5659.03.... instead of 4920..... Pal readers follow the instruction in the UDE 2 post about how to change your xbox version to NTSC in order to load UDE 2.

3) Update your virgin xbox with the XBL Live update, then load UDE 2 on to your xbox using NFL Fever's update.xbe or the patch to older existing update.xbe's (aka 4920) Then follow the rest of Brian's tutorial.....above  cool.gif
