Dual Booting Bioses?
« on: July 29, 2004, 01:25:00 AM »

just wondering if it is possible, i believe it'd be best with PBL?, to turn on my xbox, then get a menu with my choice of which bios to boot from?
is it possible to set up a program that'll boot either an xbox game, in default, unhacked format, loading completely through MS style, and still have the box work on xbox live, then if there's no cd it gives me a choice of booting the msbios to bring me to an msdash, or to bring me to evox, and still use a stock hdd, so that if ms decides to implement any sort of hdd check/ban, then i'd still be fine for halo 2?

i have 2 xboxes, one will be my stock(hehe),  halo 2 xbox live box, with a sammy, and the other my hacked box, with a busted  sad.gif philips drive, that way i can backup games if i need to, but still be able to use the box for live...

Boot sequence
- - - -
Checks for game cd
- on success, boot to game in a default ms environment
- on failure, options
 1. Boot legit ms environment
 2. Boot evox

just wondering if there's anything like this already... thx for your time

Doesn't Xbox Live check the xboxdash.xbe?

If they don't, which files do they check?

Why Should it ?

The retail Game Boots up the legit default.xbe on the dvdrom.

every other xbes are bypassed.

It doesn't load the xboxdash.xbe at first. But when you go to xbl it will check if you have the right dash installed. Now it can update your xboxdash.xbe because you don't have the right xboxdash.xbe for the required xbl dashboard.

Or am i completely wrong? Does it check other files, to verify you have the right dash?

Ur not completely wrong smile.gif

It does chk for other XBEs on the Retail DVD Game like download.xbe,update.xbe, dashupdate.xbe, etc...

apparently no xbes are chked on the HDD.

So the Retail Disc kinda works as a Boot Disc smile.gif

If it doesn't check any files on the hdd, why you have to update your dash then?

Its an Auto feature on XBL , so whenever a New Dashboard Upgrade come along XBL will update it Automatically

& So updating ur Dashboard & Registering/Recovering ur Gamertag Online, will help to authenticate & verify all ur MS signed files to ur XBL a/c.

& updating your dash does not do anything to ur UDE/UDE2 as its not a Dashboard exploit.

So theres ur answer smile.gif

The ultimate DASHBOARD exploit (UDE) is not a dashboard exploit? Is that what you're saying?  ohmy.gif

Brian, if you aren't using the latest dash and then MS updates it - they will overwrite your xboxdash.xbe with the updated one and your exploit will be gone until you reinstall it.. probably hang on bootup with the exploited fonts too

it doesnt, but when m$ update, they update any exploited files!, basically to stop exploits from working!
