All Right...

I wanna make a website that has a complete click-by-click walkthrough alot of the tough stuff when it comes to softmodding. I'm not posting everything - you should still figure most of it out on your own (Mainly because doing it all for you can sometimes lead people to a false sense of security - and mess it up running a completely different system configuration.), but generally it will have every last detail so even the dumbest-of-the-dumb should get it working properly.

But at least it will provide a complete flexible tutorial to everything, unlike some tutorials that don't explain how to use a gamesave exploit to get in or whats a hotswap, etc. This site however - would contain the whole she-bang. All the prerequisites needed to do it, other optional tricks, pictures, and anything else I can do to help out (Maybe even include the general cost of the prerequisites if applicable).

So anyhow, what I need is people to support it so I know the work is appreciated, maybe some good tutorial writers so I can make it sensible, and if I can't get any from my current host - webspace. Oh and some good pictures, because I don't have a digital camera.

(I'm also doing something right now I've been meaning to for a long time - I'm actually holding an X2 2.2L+ in my hand smile.gif. I finally got me a modchip! Christ for 30 bones I got something the size of about a Dorrito nacho cheeze chip...)

I'm not planning to do it all and then leave the site up, I plan to add on to it as I see new questions occuring. To do it all at once would mean finishing about when Xbox 2 comes out, there's way too much information out there!

So if you'd need it, it would be added.

Either by me or I'll do it off of someone else's information (Mainly because I've never done a hotswap or used Xboxhdm) so I'm relying alot on the support of other tutorial writers out there too...

Edit: Hehe, someones not a dumbass...well thats a good thing.

I was actually thinking about this the other day... A tutorial on doing a soft exploit(UDE only, cause personally I feel there's no better way) from start to finish.

I differ about not doing it as a hotswap tutorial, as that's how I've done my box and others.  My reason is because some people(including me) might not have a memorycard and this would be the most cost effective (free) way of doing it. You're idea is good, cause we can make paths in the tutorial, like if you have a memory card, do it this way instead, yada yada yada.  Hot swapping isn't that difficult as long as you do it the easiest way (IMHO taking out the connector from the dvd and letting it boot to the error screen, as there's no button pushing, no waiting 15 min for hd to spin down, etc.).

Great Idea as it would help with some of the newbs unaware of the search feature, and good luck.

I don't need tutorial but a precise documenation of what is going on, from BIOS to update.xbe(xboxdash.xbe) to whatever. Once the relationship is clear, people can plug in their own XBEs.

If my host would allow such a thing I would have done something similer at one point  cool.gif  but you can always count on someone else with more time on there hands (and effort) to come up with the goods biggrin.gif

This idea has already been thought about and is already currently in the works...

ETA, >month providing my people get their act together... If not, I'd like to be apart of the effort

@Rice: you know I've already written a tutorial; feel free to use that

Uh, what the hell are you talking about scrupul0us? Whatever your working on I'm still doing mine. I need something to do.

Either way like I said - I'll try my best to make the relationship between a decent tutorial and how-things-work with these guides, because I know thats a serious problem. Too many people don't know whats happening in the first place.

I'mma gonna go try to start coding the site now.

Neither can I 'cause once I finish the majority of the coding it'll be a breeze to add on to it!

smile.gif...

Anyhow I'll start working on it. I got another copy of my favorite WYSIWYG HTML editor (Because doing it by hand takes far longer) so I'll have some "beta" code coming along soon.

I just gotta refresh my memory on creating PHP includes for frame headers, hehe...

Edit: To everyone telling me that this is a great idea, and I'm really helping out by doing this - it had to be done eventually. Hopefully once Xbox 2 comes out I can manage stuff like this before it spirals out of control!

Yay.  I thought about doing something like this.  Not that I couldn't code the damn thing, by any means, but I always suck at actually WRITING material.  I think in PHP, not english :/

Secondly, what HTML editor do you use? I don't like WYSIWIG editors myself, I like hand coding it, but hey, whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

P.S.  I figured out I like commas!

Edit: Frame headers?  Do you mean sending a header within an individual frame, or what?

Well if you could help in any way I'd be grateful! I can write tutorials pretty good.

Yeah alot of people do it by hand but I can't stand hammering out all the little errors without seeing the results instantly, it gets irritating. The editor I use is called Actual Drawing.

Lol, comma's are fun!

And as for that last bit - I wasn't sure what I was saying, heh...
