you don't have a 4977 kernel. That's probably the bios you use with the pbl you load. Anyway since you run the 4920 dash you have a kernel low enough to run the UDE1 so you should not even use ude2. You should add your own default.xbe and if it's one of the newer pbl's they are habibi signed by default.

Hi scrupul0us,

Thanks for the info. Like you, I use my Xbox mostly to play movies. Just checked and I'm getting an audio pop every minute or two playing .avi files with the latest version of XBMC. This makes sense if cutscenes are exhibiting the same problem, but gameplay is not affected.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear audio pops are not a universal problem with UDE2.

Use XboxHDM. Search around to find it. I used it to upgrade my HDD, and it wasn't hard, just kinda tedious, but that's cuz I had to use an old, slow-ass computer (my newer comps kept freezing the harddrive whenever I conneted it)

SWEET wonderful tutorial. Thank you!

Have K:1.00.5838.01 and D:1.00.5659.03, used MA save game exploit and continued on the tutorial from there and everything worked absolutely perfectly.

Your tutorial is a liiiiittle sketchy at a few points, but with previous knowledge of Xbox hacking I had no problems.

Is there any reason to TSOP flash as opposed to softmodding, other than being able to boot straight from copied DVD game?

UrbanRiot,

Did you ever solve your problem? Yesterday I used this tut to softmod my first 5838 and everything worked perfectly, including access to the MS Dash. Did you update the MS Dash with XBL before doing the mod as directed in the tut?

Will the 007 Original save exploit work too, or does it have to be mech assault?

Any exploit will work, as long as you can gain ftp access to the Xbox, or get the files onto your computer, then back to the Xbox HDD. I used the Splinter cell Exploit and it worked fine.

It says in the tutorial to rename xboxdash.xbe in the C drive of the xbox to MODXboxdash.xbe (For backup im sure) but three lines down it says to move xboxdash.xbe from directory x into the root of C on the xbox.  Since it doesn't say anything about putting xboxdash.xbe into directory x in the first place, I'm assuming the directory x is the one that we take form slayers?  Does this mean I have to take update.xbe AND xboxdash.xbe form slayers?

you can rename the original xboxdash.xbe to something like xboxdash.bak. then take a copy of that and name it to modxboxdash.xbe or whatever you want that you can use to hex edit. the new xboxdash.xbe is the update.xbe that comes from slayer's. But since you are looking at a UDE2 tutorial there is some patching needed first.

Oh i see the the xboxdash.xbe thats in my c drive is just being renamed for backup purposes and what im doing is taking the update.xbe from slayers, patching it using qwix and renaming it xboxdash.xbe?

wtf? patching it using qwix? No that would only mess up your mod. there is a special patch for the file. Also if your kernel is lower than 5713 you could use the UDE 1 also. That doesn't need patching.
