I've been searching but have found nothing.  Is there a way to have UDE2 and also have the option to boot the orig. dash in Evox menu?

I have a question just to make sure. I noticed in the package that there is no default.xbe included, and the xbox can't, ya know, boot without the default.xbe. I could just be mistaken, and am not exactly sure how it works. But, I want to make sure this works 100%. So I delete every file and folder and everything in the xbox C drive, and just place the contents from the C folder in the package to the C drive on the xbox, even though there more files on your xbox than there are in the package? If I am mistaken, could someone please explain to me exactly what each file in the package does? because there a lot of generally necessary files missing in the package, and I don't want to screw anything up, so help would be very appreciated, thanks

Yeah i know it seems a litlte worrying replacing all them files with one xbe and a fonts folder!  laugh.gif  but it really works!

read my post here for more detail!

I _THINK_ this is how you do it....

drag over your origianl xbe file msdash (prob have to rename it to that) make a new fonts folder called f0nts or something and put the original fonts in there. You then have to patch your msdash so it looks in the f0nts folder for the original fonts. I believe there is a fonts patcher in the usual places which does this.

If you look at friekos tutorial and the last few steps it shows exactly how to do this....

good luck

oh forgot to mention, then you just edit your evox.ini and add an item to launch the msdash

Exellent, thanks... I had everything except copying fonts to a custom DIR and patching the msxboxdash.xbe, thanks!

I recently started using this package but I'm interested in using PBL metoo instead of nkpatcher. Can anybody help me install it? I want it for IGR as well as blocking xbox live.

I included the nkpatcher7, read rmenhals root post, he added basically almost all the bios hacks including IGR and live blocking.

rename the avalaunch.xbe to ex.xbe

If you have your XboxHDM restore cd , then it wont matter what the xbox does or doesnt do.

Hi all...I downloaded the UDE2 Package so I can install it on the xbox (It's from the holiday bundle so I presume it's 1.6b). How exactly do I extract the files from the BZIP2 archive? I try opening it up with my winrar and try extracting it but it doesn't (it can't do it basically). The file name is ude2-complete-v0.1.bzip2 AND IT WAS RELEASED December 18 JUST YESTERDAY (I think we all know where it was released). After I do that, from what I've read so far I just have to erase the C drive and replace all the files from the archive into C (for the xbox). What I don't get is, how does that load up EVOX? There is a seperate file called Evox Official with all the skins, evox.ini, etc. do I have to install that or something? If so how do I install it?

I ALSO HAVE THE REGULAR UDE2 PACKAGE BEFORE DECEMBER 18 RELEASE but I still have the exact same questions....except I already have the regular UDE2 package extracted since it was a zip file and NOT bzip2.

Hi all.  I just bought a soft modded XBox from HK, it appears to be a NTSC-J version and was told it is a 1.6 version.
What I am trying to figure out is whether it has been modded with UDE2.  From what I read in the forums, for UDE2, the EEPROM must have been changed to region 1.  I have the following questions:

1. Where is the EEPROM located?  What will happen if I change the f0nts folder back to fonts and replace xboxdash.xbe with orig-xboxdash.xbe?  Will the XBox boot up like an un-modded NTSC (not NTSC-J) box?

2. What is the startup sequence for the XBox?  At what point is the new bios loaded?  I assume a new BIOS must be loaded otherwise I wouldn't be able to play backups.  The reason I am asking is that I assumed that on power on, the XBox would look for an original DVD in the drive before booting to the dash, however if I have an original DVD (tried Japan and UK game), it still loaded to EvoX dash.

3. How is the BIOS loaded, is it called before or after EvoX?  How do I find out what BIOS is used?  There is a apps/BiosLD directory on my E drive with PBL Meetoo, but that doesn't seem to be loaded normally as nothing changes when I changed the boot.cfg.

4. If I wanted to upgrade the hard disk, is the procedure the same as if there was a modchip installed?  Or is there anything special that needs to be done?

5. What are the different regions for the XBOX?  The machine was bought from HK and I was told it is a HK release, but marked NTSC-J, is this the same as a japanese box?

Thanks, much appreciated.
