Hi all. I just bought a soft modded XBox from HK, it appears to be a NTSC-J version and was told it is a 1.6 version.
What I am trying to figure out is whether it has been modded with UDE2. From what I read in the forums, for UDE2, the EEPROM must have been changed to region 1. I have the following questions:
1. Where is the EEPROM located? What will happen if I change the f0nts folder back to fonts and replace xboxdash.xbe with orig-xboxdash.xbe? Will the XBox boot up like an un-modded NTSC (not NTSC-J) box?
2. What is the startup sequence for the XBox? At what point is the new bios loaded? I assume a new BIOS must be loaded otherwise I wouldn't be able to play backups. The reason I am asking is that I assumed that on power on, the XBox would look for an original DVD in the drive before booting to the dash, however if I have an original DVD (tried Japan and UK game), it still loaded to EvoX dash.
3. How is the BIOS loaded, is it called before or after EvoX? How do I find out what BIOS is used? There is a apps/BiosLD directory on my E drive with PBL Meetoo, but that doesn't seem to be loaded normally as nothing changes when I changed the boot.cfg.
4. If I wanted to upgrade the hard disk, is the procedure the same as if there was a modchip installed? Or is there anything special that needs to be done?
5. What are the different regions for the XBOX? The machine was bought from HK and I was told it is a HK release, but marked NTSC-J, is this the same as a japanese box?
Thanks, much appreciated.
