Yes true my package actually boots PBL as Mordens does so it doesnt work with non compatible Kernals..

However, its a package not a gamesave smile.gif

I am not talking about package, just game hack. Meaning all game hacks can launch a non-MS certified XBE. Or put it this way, all game hack will be able to launch linux which allows you to gain access to the Xbox HD.

Actually, I am talking about Hong Kong/Singapore which surprisingly use region 2(Japan) for game but PAL for TV output. Luckily, modchip is a rather open business here and it is in general only about 10US more than retail one so hacking is really not an issue.

Yes, I get the best game hack, MechAssault which runs for all known region. So even for software only mode(EEPROM editing), it can be used to switch between US/Canada and Japan easily :-)

Unless you source a US copy of MA, SC1, or 007 AUF! smile.gif - Try eBay. (and the current exchange rate is excellent!)

Edit: Unless this is true for the MA D:\default.xbe?

MechAssault is encoded for US and Elsewhere (PAL) boxes - so you can just pick up a copy of MechAssault and not worry.

It will NOT work on Jap boxes though.

you could always do what avalaunch does, and get it built-in to PBL to change eeprom on boot-up (could put it in the boot.cfg for the region i guess).. Avalaunch somehow does it so that it the videomode goes back to normal on powerdown...

I don't think they're connected - when testing UDE2 I did toggle both NTSC and xbe region, but noted that they were separate flags.  And ConfigMagic says it doesn't allow invalid combinations, so, in theory, you should be able to have PAL, and xbe region 1.

any reason why ? My machine is region 2(Japan) and MechAssault runs fine. Or you mean the video mode(NTSC-J) ?

Then I'm confused. When I XBEDumped by US copy of MechAssault, default.xbe it was signed for US and Elsewhere only. Hmm. Odd.
