By the sounds of it you mean as a normal APP launched from the dashboard
correct, thats all you need to do (it will return to the dash when done, about 3 sec)

Did you change the sequence/timing of inserting the IDE cable into the hdd? Did you change any BIOS setting?

Based on the description, my conjecture is that the PC is in security frozen mode and hence don't respond to any security commands.

Duplicate the exact sequence of actions when you first used to lock the hdd. Alternatively find another PC.

I'm trying to format a new WD20EARS 2TB hdd for xbox using xboxhdm.

I softmodded my v1.6 xbox about a year ago using krayzie's splinter cell exploit (then replaced dashboard with xbmc).  I backed up C, E, and eeprom to my pc.  I then burned the xboxhdm cd using those files in the appropriate directory.

I put the new hdd in the primary master ide of a pc, booted to the xboxhdm cd.  Unlocked, no problem.  Build from scratch, no problem.  Copy C and E files, no problem.  I didn't receive the option to partition f or g.  When I chose option 4 to partition f, I was told the drive wasn't big enough.  Locked the drive, okay.

Put the new hdd in xbox, now I'm getting errors 13 and 21 (depending on whether there's a disc in).  I get error 14 when I try to boot from a rescue disc (krayzie, evox).  Will not play xbox games or allow ftp.

I put the hdd back in pc and booted to cd again.  Now, the pc says there's a primary master error.  I continue, but xboxhdm won't even recognize the disc (boot DOS, hdunlock, "device not ready").  I tried the hdd password and the master password "XBOXSCENE".

On top of all that, while trying to update my original hdd with ndure 3.1, I screwed up.  Now, I can't ftp in, can't perform the original exploit, can't do anything except play original xbox games (boots to error 21).

I'm lost here, and could use some help!

Is the SC gamesave still in the original hdd? Loading the save by cold-booting SC disc will give you ftp access to fix things with the original hdd.

You probably need a clean file-set of msdash files. Grab HeXEn and extract the msdash files out with qwix.

The sata-ide adapter - which you are probably using since it is a 2TB hdd probably complicates issues. See if you could try other sata hdd and still get error 13/21. There's a newer version of xboxhdm which is usb based -version 2.2. You could try that too.

What is going on?! blink.gif

Odds are it's the sata adapter. Change a different sata hdd or change the adapter. If the same xboxhdm CD works for an IDE hdd, you will confirm this suspicion.

None of them. You use the files from the real C, which you get access to by running Krayzie Extras - as I explained in your other thread.........

Use Kingroach NDURE 3.1 plus the MS Dash files from HeXEn / Slayers / AID to build a completely new softmod file set, then use xboxhdm and your eeprom to install that on your new disk. See the link in my signature - Build a new softmod disk with eeprom.

Okay Heimdall, I tried your suggestion (using Slayer's files).

I'm still getting error 13 on the xbox.  Error 21 (with original xbox game in).  Do I need to go back to pc and launch ndure script again to uninstall those files, or can I wipe them from xboxhdm option 1?

Other suggestions?

Yes.  The first time I made the disc ndure wouldn't run, because I left out the "checkid" file that ndure created.  I made another with this file in the ndure\ directory, and did everything as you said.

The only change was that after I ran the ndure script through it's 3 step process, it exited itself.  Then, I typed "restart", and it got stuck in a loop "Calling I2C reset again."  I waited 10 minutes and held down the power button on the pc to turn it off, then turned it on again and locked the hdd as you said.

I tried it again, after unlocking and wiping the fatx table.  When I chose 1 in the ndure script, here's what I got:

    Installing Ndure
    Please wait
    Part 1 of 3:
Could not find C drive backup
                    Creating backup
    Part 2 of 3:
                    Checking for xbox dash version
                    Copying Ndure files
cp: /CD/ndure/E/NKP11/*: No such file or directory
                    Copying C drive backup
                    to shadowc
    Part 3 of 3:

                    Done.. now exiting
Press any key to continue...

Wondering if the line beginning with cp is the problem?  I checked the files I used to create the CDROM and there is an empty NKP11 directory there.

Again, I got the "Calling I2C reset again" loop in the same place.  I've searched, but haven't really found out if this is a problem.  Also, why do I have to rebuild the C drive after creating the partition table?  I think xboxhdm 1.9 goes through that automatically...

You don't select 1 in the ndure script. You select option 1 when you run xboxhd, but you select option 2 when you run the ndure script.

I tried it using option 2 in Ndure this time.  While there was no cp: line of text, and all appeared to go well, it still doesn't work in xbox.

I'm going to try xboxhdm 2.2 now.  We'll see if that works.

Tried xboxhdm2.2.  Same errors as before.

Since my original xbox hdd is acting up, I'm thinking of trying to rebuild it with xboxhdm v1.9 (to see if my adapter is really the problem).  Good or bad idea?
