Forgive me if this is one of my rare (yeah right) noob questions...
OK, so UDE only works with kernels 5530 and below, correct? Which means this would have to be launched from a gamesave exploit, which means when the BIOS was loaded it would (likely) check the DVD tray first and there's no way to eject it without a reset so it would just cause a reboot back into the game? Hmm.

but you could ofcourse always edit the bios so that it not looks for d:/default.xbe

Hmmm I've got it to boot to the BL but at some point in the process is stalls. Heres the log file:
------------------------------------------
Phoenix Bios Loader - The Me-Too Edition
Loading Rom: \Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\xboxrom.bin
Allocate 2bl mem
Parsing RC4 key: XXX
Decrypting 2bl
Copying 2bl
Detecting xbox version:
* verdetect = 00000000
* Focus video encoder
* Xbox v1.4 or v1.5
Selecting EEPROM 1.1 key.
Parsing EEPROM key: XXXX
Patching EEPROM key: XXXX
Patching kernel param string
Calculating 2bl entry point
-------------------------------------------

I've tried both M7 and X2 4981. And am using UDE on a 5530 kernel.
Does the eeprom key change bios to bios or is it always the same?

Metoo3 works perfect so far on a 5713 Kernel, 4920 dash, using BFM X2 4978.03 bios.

5713 K will not run 4920 D code??

Are you sure about this?

ROJ is always enabled if you are booting from a gamesave exploit.

QUOTE (rmenhal @ Jul 19 2004, 01:26 AM)
Even if the two flags were present in the file, it wouldn't work. You can't make a BFM image out of retail 5530+ based kernels by simply setting the flags. It wouldn't even boot to dash. You can't make a good BFM image out of 5101 or less based retail kernels that way either (there's no guarantee that the shadow rom won't be overwritten by an application or a game and sometimes that does happen.)

X2 seems to have real support for shadow roms.

Thanks. smile.gif

huh.gif Those are devz3ro's converters. In case anyone wants free binary diff/patch tools, here's one: http://www.daemonology.net/bsdiff/

Hey rmenhal, I have a quick question... I'm running ldots' PBL-Lite, and I've heard his is obsolete... could you explain the differences between the two in noob-speak?

Thanks for the help, and sorry for the trouble
