QUOTE (Tomilius @ Aug 26 2004, 02:49 AM)
Yes. The framebuffer is not updated by its own thread. This would be extremely unnecessary as FBL is merely a bios loader. While gifs would be special and all, I don't see support for gifs or animated gifs anywhere in the future. Gifs, in my opinion, suck, and as you were saying, the only good reason for them would be for them to be animated - and since that's not going to happen... well, you get the idea. FBL was not created in the XDK, so things like animation wouldn't work so well. It was hard enough to get any type of fading to work. Remember, nothing is done with the help of the GPU - that is, it's "software-rendered" I guess you could say.

As for the_devil73:
I respect your opinion... well, no I don't. But I'll acknowledge that you're having some difficulties, many being mental, and I'll suggest that you see somebody about them. FBL was made as a summer hobby. Unfortunately, it may be a while before there are any new developments, but in the meantime, I would like to remind you of the debug logging feature in FBL. And I would also like to remind you that FBL was being worked on before PBL-metoo even existed, that metoo is based on 1.3 and FBL is based on 1.4.1, and that FBL is the only bios loader with skins and splash image support so I wouldn't complain. In addition, while there may well be a problem with splash images, you should try and be a little more respectful in conveying it. Note as well that skins and splash images are "completely different things." A splash image is loaded right before a bios is loaded or nkpatcher is run. Skin != Splash.

Be sure the debug log reports that it has loaded the image. Maybe it will have some more information. I haven't read everything so maybe you even already posted a debug log. From your expressed stupidity in other posts I just assumed you haven't. I hope you get everything worked out, and I'm not just referring to skins and splashes.

I think Raebis already said this (thanks Raebis):
CODE
Splash

Ohhh i got it, but still, i think the readme was poorly made, i used xbox hdm to fix my xbox 3 times b4 i go this to work. i t would hang on boot up if i edited something wrong.

Thats my opinon. FBL is pretty cool due to the splash screen.

I have been trying to run this as an app from evox as I have an executer1 mod and want to load a new bios. Trying with M8 bios but it hangs when calling 2bl, same with 4781. I have tried with and without config file, with and without keys.
Can anyone help?

Unless you're going to use EVTool to tweak the BIOS I recommend you get a BFM 4981 or 4983 X2 BIOS anyway... they have more features than m8 (not sure if evtool adds all of them)

Im now confident that i have the RC4Key and EEPROM key correct in the keys file. (No longer says it could be wrong as an error)

It all works fine using the 1,024kb bios from the signed phoenix bios loader.

However im still having trouble to get xecuter 4983 bios working.

I get no errors at all. It just seems to freeze and the next time i run the app i get a warning that it fail to load last time.

On one occasion i got the error
"Memory unsafe to access
Fault location: 0xb5612934
Death point: 2 (2bl entry point calculation)

I have a Xbox 1.0 with xecuter 1.0. Im runn evox and running the frosted bios loader from my d:\ drive.

Any ideas?? why xecuter bios does not load. Yet the one included in the signed pheonix bios loader works fine.

Cheers
Kero

PS. Again how good is this app. The error reporting has allowed me to keep trying things ... fantastic

Turns out to be the BIOS I was using that caused the LED to go Red after the BIOS was loaded.

I am now using the X2_4983_BFM bios and the LED operates normally.

Tomilius,

I reciently used FBL in conjunction with the Audio Exploit.  I renamed the default.xbe (FBL V 1.0 RC1) to linux.xbe and then audio signed it, renamed the out.xbe to linux.xbe.

I have 1 question and 1 possible problem, first the problem; when I start the Audio Hack (the non-swap version) the LED's begin changing colors, so I know that although the screen is black, Frosted is loading my Evox M8 BFM bios, but nothing more happens.  I have waited as much as five minutes before restarting the xbox and starting over.  The second time, the Bios loads in quite fast, and works great!

I have tried this over and over, and it is ALWAYS the same; the first boot seams to hang up loading the Bios and the second boot loads very fast.   Any suggestions?

Now the question.  In attempting to resolve the above problem, I thought it would be nice to load a "loading screen" as opposed to a black screen do you have any boot.cfg examples of this?

Thanks for a great program!

not to sound arrogant, but why use the audio exploit over say, UDE?

there is no P drive, it is prolly a mapped drive.

C E F G - Possible hd parts.

D - DVDROM

H I J K L M N O - Memory Cards

XYZ - Cache

P - W - would only be mapped drives.

QUOTE (Tomilius @ Jul 7 2004, 07:57 AM)
Frosted Bios Loader 1.0 RC2 (NEW!!!)

Download it here.
Simply click on FBL-1.0-RC2.rar in the DOS-like list. Please give your feedback smile.gif

Major New Features:
  • Skins
  • Splash Images
  • "Screenshot" support (output to JPEG or Bitmap)
  • Support for EvoX M8's 2bl (will work with the bios from rmenhal's metoo m8 package)
  • "Command-line" support
JPEGs and PNGs are supported for skins or splash images. PNG alpha channels are accepted. Paletted images may not work well - too bad. Who uses palettes anyway?

See the default skin, team_, for information on how skinning works. Also, download the skins package available at the listing.

If you're interested in this new version, please reply and I'll describe parameters and junk. Most of them should be described in the boot.cfg - not all, though.

You can find Raebis' latest skins here.

Known bugs:
FBL will not be able to load a random skin if you don't specify the bios to load and the bios's name is different than xboxrom.bin

Skin by Raebis (fbl-glow)
