ok Idots and Tomilius

I have all 3 hookups and can test..

Idots
your pbl worked with my av and hdtv pack...never tested the normal 3 wire one..

Tomilius
the same as above but the HideText = true didn't work...

I have all the hookups and can test them very quickly...
in case you guys want me to test...

Idots next ude package you should just replace pbl with one of these.

That's funny... I see no reason HideText shouldn't work.

Are you sure you tried Beta 3? It's the one in the main beta folder.

Oh... there's no = sign there by the way.

hmm i just tested ldots package and it works but i have an older tv that displays fuzz instead of a blue screen when there is no signal. so ldot's package has about 2 seconds of fuzz before it loads the bios and then my dashboard. so i guess i will go back to Tomilius's package. i really dont need ldots because i dont have focus or s-video. i guess s-video people would use ldot's package but they have newer tv's that have an s-video jack so their tv would display blue or black or something like that instead of crinkling/fuzz.  wink.gif

jonathan, my Beta 3 theoretically supports anything - without screen corruption. But I need people to test it to know for sure.
... besides kernels 5530 or above, I guess.

Hmm, tried your beta 2 Tomilius. Wouldn't boot - it just froze? Even with no controllers. Didn't try our beta 3 yet.

I made a version based on PBL 1.3 now, that's really barebones. Only takes :
RC4Key
EEPROMKey1_0
EEPROMKey1_1
Romfile

in the boot.cfg. Doesn't do anything but read the config and load the bios. No USB, no timeout, really stripped down.

It gives me a blank screen (no corruption) on both Conexant and Focus, using both scart and composite. Did this by only initializing vga enough to allow a framebuffer clear. I have no s-video so I cant test that. I would appreciate if someone would. Sorry about the long code section. If this doesn't work for s-video I will remove it again smile.gif

Edit : Remember that your bios rom must be in the root of the PBL directory with version 1.3. Not in the Bioses directory. Thanx for reminding me violent_bong smile.gif I might change that in the future...

I'm definitely glad that you're working on this too, ldots smile.gif I don't know why Beta 2 had issues with you though. Anyway, just looking through BootVgaInitializationKernelNG...

CODE
MMIO_H_OUT32 (riva.PCRTC, 0, 0x800, pcurrentvideomodedetails->m_dwFrameBufferStart);

Is that where you made it stop? It's right before the "IoOutputByte(0x80d3, 5);" too...

Or was it here?

CODE
NVSetFBStart (&riva, 0, pcurrentvideomodedetails->m_dwFrameBufferStart);

lol, I'm not even basing this off of anything but the words "FrameBuffer" and "Start"...

Hope your version does work for people with SVIDEO... I haven't read all of the recent posts but it probably does. Way to go!  biggrin.gif

Nice! Just tried it. Don't notice any speed difference from mine...

I don't see why you'd need to initialize VGA though at all. For me, it looks as though it just stops video output.

To force no video output on Beta 3, use "NoOutput 3". VGA will never be initialized, and at the start there will be no video output. Looks just like ldots' that way... only about 5 times larger in file size... lol

In my experience I had to initialize vga/frambuffer to be able to clear the framebuffer which is what kill the video output, or actually just gives the black screen. The IoOutputByte didn't do anything for me. I can even take the call out, and still have this black screen.

Hmm... well anyway, can I add your method of initializing the framebuffer to the "official" Reloaded v1.3?

Sure man! We are in this together biggrin.gif You helped me in rethinking the "no-video" solution.

You mean with no screen corruption. The screen stays black until the bios is loaded ?

they both do the same thing....black screen, then nothing...(some tv's it's blue mine is black with the video mode at the top....then the dashboard....

beta 3 and yours do the exact same at the same speed...on svideo and composite....(never tried the standard cable that came with the box.)

Can we with this new PBL choose what bios to load?

Sometimes I like to load different dashboards (changed the path in bios).

Thank you

Only way to tell is to try it...
I know I haven't made any effort geared toward that...
If it works, it just happened.

I've been asking WHY PBL doesn't work with 5530 or above and how it fails but nobody has responded.
