Free Latest M$ Dashboard!

smile.gif ), but I don't have an XBOX!Live account.

However, I have recently got broadband, and my XBOX is networked to my Windows XP PC.  I recalled that this is one of the XBOX!Live configurations.

I used XP's network bridging feature, to logically tie the network card talking to the XBOX, to the USB broadband modem.  I used Linksbox, the XBOX web browser, to check it out, and, Wow! I could surf the web from my XBOX smile.gif.  Stage 1 complete.

I then returned my C drive to the Pre-live-Dashboard 4817 – installed as the boot Dashboard.
Then, with the XBOX networked to the PC, but the PC definitely NOT connected to the Internet, I launched a backup of Splinter Cell – the “download content” option was available and I selected it.  As I expected, it ran a Dashboard updater that updated my C:\ from pre-live Dashboard 4817 to live 1.0 Dashboard 4290.  (This much I already knew).

I then switched off my modchip, and booted to the pure 4290 Dashboard, and dialled up to the internet from my PC.  I then gingerly clicked on Dashboard 4290’s XBOX Live option, and after entering some network settings when it asked (IP, DNS, Gateway (the IP of my PC)), much to my surprise, my 4290 Dashboard was updated to the latest 5960 for free.  Thanks M$ biggrin.gif.

(You could probably do this simply using soft-mods, or by using a rented original XBOX!Live title.)

I'm pretty sure it's M$ thanking you for upgrading to a non-exploitable dashboard biggrin.gif - unless you find some "unckecked" files in this dash that can be exploited...

True - why would they restrict distribution of the latest secure Dashboard? - Still I was surprised it let me far enough to download the new Dashboard without an XBOX!Live account.

I reverted to my original 4304 (?) non-live dash, then put in last month's OXM demo disc, with R6-3 LIVE demo. I launched the game, and was given my 5659 dash, on which I promptly installed the UDE, and removed the LIVE! tab from the m$ dash.

Happy as a clam smile.gif

Doh! - your way's much quicker smile.gif.

all you really need to do to get rid of it is to rename the target (xonline.xbe, right?) to somthing elese, but the _ is required for the exploit, is it not?

/needs to upgrade to ude

/is using gros' bugged beta fonts

/needs to stop emoting iwth the "/" key

Are there any advantages to running the latest ms dashboard?  Is it ok to just delete the folder xodash?

Latest MS dsahboard has all the exploits fixed, removing the Live tab has no point.

This is a development thread, not a public "do-it" thread.

I think people are hexing it (c:\f0nts) for use with the UDE (I am), to maintain memory/sound tracks etc.  And you don't want to accidently hit Live with a hexed Dashboard!

PS. Remember to turn the Dashboard's "Auto Login" off also smile.gif.

I take it UDE and Mech Assault exploits still work ?

And that the've fixed the audio and EEE exploits ?

Ave,

Where can i get the OXM Demo Disc with the R6-3 Live Demo?
And most importantly, does my XBOX have to be connected to the internet for the dash to be upgraded to 5659 ?

Thanks.
