Don't you have that backwards?
I would think booting the tray closed should boot the E:\pbl\pbl.xbe ->e:\dash\default.xbe (the ude), and
Tray Open would boot e:\udata\******\******\**** etc.

Yup! Thanx. The tutorial is updated.

Hi Idots,

I used your package and made a backup, but the HDD Key and HDD password are different from the ones I got from evox.

What are the realy ones or are both good?

Thank you.

The HDD key and HDD password are different things. You are not comparing those are you?

But I have certainly obtained wrong HDD password with Evox in the past. Try to compare the one you get from my package with the one you get from ConfigMagic. I have yet to see a wrong password from this linux tool, but you never know  huh.gif

With this package,

If i boot the xbox with tray closed, then does it direct me to evox etc etc?

and if i boot with tray open, it direct me to your ltools linux so i can fix anything that is wrong,

also, is this softmod installer is full proof as long as no files are deleted etc etc?

THanks!

Yes

Yes, Tray Open, takes you to the ltools menu. I could never give you any gurantees that the files will never get corrupted, or even your HDD would stop working one day, but all that is requried for reaching the ltools menu, is the update.xbe (renamed to xboxdash.xbe), the bert-ate-ernie.xtf font and the game save package in E:\UDATA\. Leave those intact and you should be OK. And of course stay off Xbox-Live with the UDE enabled!

Hi again, I compared the ones I have from EVOX and ConfigMagic and they are the same, and different from the ones made with your package.

I have K 5101 D 4920 and running UDE

How did you obtain the password from this package? Please describe.
If you run the backup option in the ltools menu and then afterwards choose the "HDD password" option, you dont get a match with Evox? I certainly do on my xbox  huh.gif

It's in a bit unlogical place since it started as a linux-toolbox. A hint :
It's for the XBOX, its an Operating System, its linux, its called ltools tongue.gif

You can also issue SITE commands. SEARCH ltools should find the package.

Just got a chance to take a look at what you put together ldots. Looks and runs beautifully. I never though of using the open-Tray state as a way of configuring the hack. Excellant idea. You are definately the 'Ultimate' package developer for the 'Ultimate' dash exploit.  beerchug.gif

You might take a look at rmenhal's new fonts that clean up the .xtf shell code and incorporate the tray selection from a seperate xbe that is launched. I haven't had a chance to test the adv. and disadv. of his new fonts but they seem promising.

Thanks Angerwound.

I will definetely have a look at the new fonts (and the dual-launcher). I like the idea of keeping the fonts as simple as possible. We still have to hear from users whether the new 'smaller', but generic font is as stable as the older ones.

@ anjilslaire
Dont think I would like to include more in this package. 4.4MB is still quite a bit. I'm sure some people would like more Dashboards as well smile.gif
The main purpose was to make an installer that gave people access to the xbox. If you want to change pbl/bios/dash it's really easy (and safe with the dual boot fonts).
If you want to make you own pbl 1.3.5i package, just unzip the save and replace the pbl.tgz (Iceows should be able to compress in this format). Or ftp the replacement pbl to the game save dir in your xbox and transfer to your memcard.

@ adil786
Same applies to your question. As you say yourself : Unzip the save and uncompress the pbl.tgz (Iceows should do this). Then edit the boot.cfg of pbl and re-compress in the same format.
