Zipping the update.xbe is only nessecary if you want to fit everything on the memcard. The installer will accept both :
E:\UDATA\xxxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxxxx\files\update.xbe
and
E:\UDATA\xxxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxxxx\files\update.xbe.zip

So if you ftp the update.xbe in after uploading the package from memcard you dont have to zip the update.xbe
And of course since v. 1.5.1, if you already have dash 4920 installed you dont have to worry about the update.xbe at all!

The 5530 support and boXplorer now make this the ultimate exploit package.

Again, don't know where you find the time but well done on this and the xboxhdm both excelent.

As I said, this has definitely taken up too much of my spare time. But I feel good about spending the time since I hope that both the memcard package and xboxhdm (+ its softmod package) have reached a fairly mature state now. I hope maintaining them will be easy in the future.

One idea I had for the future was to make "official" dashboard/apps packages as iso's that could be burned to a CD-RW and installed from a menu in the MXM interface. The installer should check the validity of the package before installing. Such addons would be a lot more flexible and be a workaround the 8mb memcard limit.

just tried 1.5.1, works like a charm!!

Thanks for the pbl timout option idots, works great!

Loads up really fast now! w00000h0000,


IGR even works if i press igr then take disc out,  after how many seconds after presing IGR do i have to take disc out?

Is there a fix for IGR problem?

well i reset my C drive back to original state and installed 1.5.1 and it works outstanding however i still CANNOT access MS dash.. i dont understand  i get one error in the install that says "original fonts in fonts folder not found cant complete without original fonts" or something along those lines.. makes no sense because i set it back to original first??? i have k: 100.4817.01
d: 100.4920.01  so i dont know what the problem would be? should i just use all the files from slayers first?.. also if i get an xbox that has the newest dash and kernal (halo edition xbox) would this UDE still work or will i have to use something else? i mean i could always downgrade everything to suit it right? just by using slayers files again or transfering what i have on my old one first to the new one?

Sounds like you didn't have the correct files in your dash, or at least the fonts did not exist.

you could try copying the fonts folder from slayer v2.5 installer (SYSTEM\ALL\C) to your box's C drive. Then reboot with the tray open and choose the UDE install again.

No, you will need an Xbox with a kernel below version 5713 (If you have kernel 5530 you must choose nkpatcher and not PBL). You can't change the kernel just like you can the dash, so it's worth remembering this when getting another xbox.

so did i just waste my time gettin the newest fonts, newest nkpatcher, and hexin this dash since this package has the latest of everything for this kernel 5530? damn slow and down take a break.

OliG pretty much gives you the recipe for solving this problem. Taken directly from the source of the installer :
CODE
Original xbox fonts not found in fonts directory on xbox C-partition???
Do you have dashboard version 4920 or above?
Cannot install a patched dashbard to run from Evox without the fonts-folder

The installer check for :
C:\f0nts\Xbox.xtf and
C:\f0nts\XBox Book.xtf
after installing UDE to determiine whether a patched copy of MS Dash would find the original fonts in f0nts. So either you did not have the fonts folder on installation or the original fonts you had in the fonts folder had already been renamed from a previous softmod.

did everything and I get a code 21 when trying to load from MechAssualt save.

I put the update.xbe.zip from slayers 2.5 in the whatever files folder then zipped the whole thing and put it on memory card.  From there to xbox harddrive, run MA choose run linux save and I see mxm matrix screen start then I get frag and code 21.  Any Help

Did you use the Action Replay memory card? Chances are your memory card corrupted the save. If you have another brand of memcard try that.
If not, then try to make a small game save hack. The corruption of saves with AR cards seem to mainly happen to large saves. Make a MechAssault game save with just Evox. Run this and ftp the UDE package in instead.

I would have asked you if you are sure you have an exploitable version of MechAssault (platinum hits etc. are pathced to not allow the game save hack), but I guess since you do see the MXM startup screen it should be OK. Check this anyway...

Yup! When running the install option the user can choose between PBL and nkpatcher (and also choose between MXM and Evox).
So currently the package includes : PBL 1.4.1, X2 4981 bios, nkpatcher, latest update fonts (dualboot),  MXM (2 skins), Evox, BoxPlorer, a mini-linux. And it still fits on a 8mb memcard, even if the update.xbe is added.

now tried to ftp stuff over as I have a mod chip, I'm testing this for someone else,

I guess if you have a modchip you didn't nessecarely ftp using a game save exploit, so are you sure your Mech Assault version is exploitable.
Also have you ever been on live with Mech Assault. I heard some of the stuff downloaded on live with Mech Assault can close the holes in Mech Assault.

If you have a modchip then try to run the E:\UDATA\xxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxx\default.xbe executable from you dashboard (without trickering it from a Mech Assault) to see if the package has been transferred to he HDD correctly.
