I'm having a heck of a time getting 1.8 to work.

I have no clue what version Xbox I have.
My kernel version is: 4817
My dash version is: 4920

I originally softmodded my Xbox ages ago through a MA save.
The folder that contained all the stuff was labeled "Gouki-xbox modless archive" (Dunno if that'll help at all). This was like when the FreeEvox dealie just came out.

Anyways, I've never used Live but my xbox's /c/ does have /xodash and inside is update.xbe (1.83mb), xonlinedash.xbe (1.73mb) and then /media which has a bunch of stuff I'm not gonna list out.

Anyways, I added the update.xbe I have to the package that I uploaded via FTP (I have EvoX dash running currently) and I goto use LTools to install everything and it finds the update.xbe file but then it says something like files missing from game save folder, aborting, you may now exit.

I figured the update.xbe was the wrong version so I download Slayer's 2.6 and took the update.xbe from there and used that - same exact problem.

ALSO, when I goto backup my C drive - the Xbox freezes after acouple minutes and I'm forced to turn it off.

I wanna get this thing installed so I never have to worry about that damn clock loop again - HELP!

kilroy42 have you tried a different version of the save exploit?

You may need to rebuild your drive using xboxhdm.  (You can also increase the hard drive size.

The information is all available on the main website. Just find the installer in the usual places. I have to ask, though, are you sure this is the installer you need? There's newer installers that you can use which have improved over UDE1 & 2 by a long way.

I have some questions. Sorry I'm a new be and I'm not familiar to write in English

1.) When I installed this exploit (UDE), can I install Gentoox with the menu from UDE?
a) If not, is there another possibility to install Gentoox?
2.) Can I uninstall Gentoox that M$ don't note this when I use XBOX-Live?

1. no I don't thinl this installer has any option to install gentoox
a. sure you can install any xbox linux. just go to the linux section of the forums
2. when you boot in retail mode (which is needed to go on live) they will not see the stuff on the hd

I have a v1.0 xbox running ltools through UDE1, and PBL Metoo.  My main dash (closed tray) is "dualboot" UIX.  Also, EvoXDash is available through the ltools Dashboards option (booted open tray).  The problem I'm running into is that I cannot access the same programs through the different dashboards.  
-for example-
dualboot
   Apps
                Game Backup – boots
           Halo Cache Editor – boots
           Web Browser – boots
           XBMC – boots
            Games
           HaloNMP-boots
            Dashboard
                 Emulators (all boot and so do the roms)

-however-
EvoXDash (options come up with different titles)
   Apps
      Game Backup – error
      Halo Cache Editor v0.7 – error
      LinkBoks – error
      Ltools – boots
      Mini-linux-boots
      XBMC-error
   Games
      Halo – error
        *(cannot access emulators)

Do you have any ideas on how I could access all available apps/games through the different dashboards?  I have FTP access, so that will make things easier.  Thanks.

the reason of the errors 21 is cuz when you boot with tray open you don't launch a bios loader/kernel patcher and all apps you wanna load have to be signed habibi (as the preinstalled boxplorer).

I would recommend getting rid of the ltools install as it's heavily outdated and install my newest Ndure installer. It has the option to set an alternate dash on tray open boot in where you wouldn't have to sign every app/game you wanna load.
