well I've managed to get HDD_Driver to work... but I don't know how to put the files on disk... thought it might be easier to backup the hard drive and open the BIN with a program that would open them, only problem is I can't find a program to open that bin... once I do, I can just edit the files, put them back in a bin and restore... Does anyone know of a program I can use to do this... I tried WinRAR... but didn't work.

I unlocked the HD while running windows. Device manager picks it up, but no programs do. I tried a bunch of the ones on the "tools" section of xbox-scene. None of them could access the drive? but device manager said it was working fine.

Forget about the windows hdd tools. They're all crap. Use xboxhdm.

I just replied to the exact same thing in your "I messed up big time topic".

Please start reading.

From Daddy J's hotswapping tut :

"Do you need to have the EEPROM.bin or HD locking key?
NO, this is basically the reasoning for hotswapping. You are allowing the Xbox to unlock the hard drive for you, and then swapping the cable, so it will not lock until a reboot signal is received or power is lost."

And yes,  again, you can also swap xbox to xbox.

hi, i've got a big problem;

ive got an ntsc ps2 with a uk psu

i wanted to softmod it but obviously i cant use my splinter cell savegame exploit like i did on another pal xbox.

i tried the hotswap thing, i left it on for a while in msdash, then took out the xbox ide cable and put in the pc ide cable when it was in xboxhdm, then it loaded up and i typed in "UDE" as per the instructions here:
http://www.stonespnl...ge&pid=1&page=2

i think i was too slow, or maybe i took it out one side then another, or something, either way it didnt show up in xboxhdm.

no worries i thought, i'll try again; so i turned everything off, plugged it all back in as before, and now i get "your xbox is fucked" or something similar - theres no error code tho.

what do i do now? have i buggered up the hard drive for good? i tried doing the hotswap as soon as the XBOX logo appeared, before the error screen appeared and it still didnt work; why am i now getting this error message? how can i just put it back to normal?

plus, i tried doing the pause method once, and it showed up in bios, that means it unlocked ok? but it still didnt show up in hdm.  also, before the error message came up pretty much instantly, now it hangs in "XBOX" for quite a while before the error message appears

i tried putting my other softmodded drive in the ntsc xbox to see if its worth using a different drive, but i still got the error message

help!

There's the problem, you have a PS2, we all have Xboxes! (Kidding, couldn't resist ...)

First of all, the tutorial you used causes a lot of trouble, just do a 'search' on "stonespnl" ....

You might indeed have ruined your hdd, hotswapping makes you move a spinning HDD, which can ruin your hdd.

I'm clueless what causes the error, but on next try follow "Daddy J's hotswapping FAQ" (link in sig.) it has been proven to be the most succesfull. (Never heard of leaving xbox in MS dash for a while to unlock, might be wrong on this but DJ's guide works for most)

To mod your xbox without a gamesave exploit, use 'UXE complete' (xbins) and xboxhdm.
