Dashboard Exploit Summary

I actually wanted to make a full UDE--> EEE switch package but considering xbins won't host m$ copyrigted files and the probably not very long life of the EEE kept me from doin that.

You are aware that you can have the UDE enabled and play on xbox live correct? As angerwound informed me, just update to the latest dashboard, and download all the available updates for the game then install UDE. When you put in a retail game it will boot the game before touching the renamed update.xbe. When going on live it appears the only thing that is checked is the downloaded updates and your 'xboxdashdata' folder.

P.S. I'm opening a new channel on EFnet #<<Eggsßox>> (like the name? wink.gif) If you guys want to come hang out and bullshit, feel free. Later on I was going to post in the following newsgroups requesting some people who are proficient in assembly to help along rmenhals absense:

alt.lang.asm
comp.lang.asm
comp.lang.asm.x86

If you guys have some time and feel like doing me the favor, please do. Explain our situation and post his asm source code if possible. Be sure to include a link to his nkpatcher thread.

yeah I'm aware of that. Problem is still that you have to have your acount set and upgraded your dashboard prior to the UDE installation. Now this is a nice solution for us or anyone else experienced but it wouldn't be easy for a total n00b where I mostly mod these xboxes for, especially not when new updates are coming and they have to let it upgrade manually and install the UDE again.
As far as #<<Eggsßox>>goes I will surely drop by some times  biggrin.gif

Why not ask ldots to add that to his ltools UDE package.

It can now already use the dualboot to jump straight into his tools. So just add two more menu options there to :

1. disable UDE
2. renable UDE

All one needs would be a hack(for easter egg/double dash) to jump straight back to ltools. I believe it is possible to just make the hack to again look for the dualboot.xbe when triggering the easter egg.

The only problem I see is that whoever install it needs to find their own way to get the pre-live dash. A not so ideal one is to use the audio exploit(assuming downgrade the dash to 4920) as a way to get back to ltools. That won't have any copyright issue.

I dont think the EEE is very well suited for an installer. Many of the huge advantages of UDE would be lost :
  • The user should upgrade to 5960 (no up- or downgrade needed with UDE)
  • User must supply the pre-live dash (and the nessecary settings files for this dash). Even more files to check for authenticity as I do with the update.xbe. UDE only needs this one file.
  • The installer would most likely have to be revised when the EEE dies.
I also assume that most users of the memcard UDE installer have one of the exploitable games. To turn off UDE from the ltools menu you of course dont need the game. A click on the menu and you are ready for Xbox Live. To re-enable UDE you need the game but this can be done in less than a minute (30 secs. is maybe more realistic).

"rmenhal's absense"? - Did I miss an announcement?
"help along"? - What's outstanding/needed?

and, a new one,
rmenhal, What does the NK in NKpatcher stand for?  New Kernel Patcher?

i want to
boot the mxm directly from my harddrive,is there a way i can fix that???
please help!!!!! sad.gif

If your XBOX Kernel is >= 5713 - no!
If your XBOX Kernel is < 5713 - yes!
Make your dashboard exploit selection from the first post in this thread, and follow the link to the instructions - where they talk about Evox, use MXM. smile.gif

I know no-one has posted here for a while, but shouldn't this post above all remain pinned?  It would be good if it was here for all new users to see when they arrived on the forum.

Then again, who am I to question a mods actions tongue.gif

yeah i think all these amazing topics should be pinned instead of being all over the place...

(Head mod HSDEMONZ appears to want it to work that way.  Must have his reasons.)

well u definatly need to find out what dash/kernel u have....its pretty simple, boot ur xbox and go to settings. Go to System Info and wait for all the copright crap to go down, it should say something like:

K:1.00.4034.1
D:1.00.4920.1

in which case the 4034 would be your kernel and the 4920 would be ur dash......

which brings up my question..... my dash is 4920 and my kernal is 4034 as said above....im trying to decide which exploit i should go with.......I dont want the possibility of clock loop seeing as it geets unplugged all the time....i dont really want to have to tap in a button code.....i dont really care about in game sound trax..........
thanx for the help!
