What Are The Font And Audio Exploits?Anyone who's
Kernel permits execution of a pre-live Dashboard has the options of
- using the "Ultimate Dashboard Exploit" [info]
- Pros:
- Directing booting to Linux/PBL/Evox, etc.
- No risk of clock loop.
- Can still use custom sound tracks in games (the M$ Dashboard can still be accessed from Evox).
- Cons:
- No Dashboard access to the XBOX!Live console.
- No XBOX!Live game access to the XBOX!Live console.
- downgrading to boot Dashboard 4920 and
- using the boot font exploit (BiCoE, BigFonts, etc.) [info]
- Pros:
- Directing booting to Linux/PBL/Evox, etc,

We know that kernels 5713 or higher won't allow dash downgrades.
Actually - while I didn't bother to trace out the logic exactly - there's a new check in 5713's XBE loader. It checks the XBE certificate structure. If the title ID is 0xFFFE0000 (dash's ID), the kernel then checks the time and date field and anything prior to about Aug 5 2003 causes it to bail out. So dash 4920 and prior versions are out. |
