yes you could but be careful when using slayers on a softmodded xbox it can permanately ruin it if you misuse it, for example unlocking tools.

and biscuit ryans you can softmod your 1.6. i have a softmodded 1.6 it works fine.

Hey thanks for the reply. I did mod my 1.6 and it worked out great. thanks for the advice. Oh and what he meant by permantly damaging your system with evox. basically what he means is if you unlock your hardrive or do a full rebuild... your pritty much screwed because youll get a error code coresponding with a screwed up hardrive..... so be reallllly careful. if that happens the only way youll be able to fix it is to hardmod it. so be careful. just install evox with a retail hard drive. Read up on it. Good luck

Ive already performed several softmods and hard mods but I'm just not shure if I can add on to the softmod lots of apps are avalable for evox how do I now what is what.

So basicaly as long is I dont change the dash itself or up date it and only use apps from the slayer's 2.6 disc ex: XBMC,xbox FTP client,etc.. it should work with the soft mod version.

I love the tutorial and was so happy to find something as clear as this. There is one more thing that I can't manage to do though, and that is to get the savegame from the memory key to the xbox.  I am using a converter that plugs into the xbox and I can see the savegames on the memory key with the memory manager, but there's no option to copy the file.

Does anyone know how I could do this?

dude....are you aware this tut is 2 years old and largely outdated and it cannot be used on current  xboxes?
as for your problem you need to press right on the d-pad to make the copyt option available.

This what is happening...I download NTSC SC Stuff from Xbins.Then I put BOTH
PARTS in the middle of AR. I then move both to the memory card. So I got all
that. I pop in my splinter cell game and go to start/load/Linux/checkpoints. OK:
So the first time I did this it goes to "Loading MXM" Then it goes to the
Itools. I hit the backup button.
"Loading". Then I get these gay green, black screen. I read the tuts, it says
it's normal and that I should just shut my xbox off when the power button starts
to blink. I open Itools, and it goes to the default menu.I hit UDE Install. (1.6
box) And select UDE2, PBL Metoo, EvoX M8, EvolutionX. The screen goes the gay
color again, here is a url...ignore flash...

The power thing blinks and I turn the xbox off. Now, I go to splinter cell again
and load up the linux profile, and go to checkpoints. It goes to the F ING MXM.
Now this menu switches colors. THis time it was blue. So now Im just confused. I
wanted EvoX but I got MXM. Then the crap really hits the fan. I restart and go
to Itools. I then press the white button, and see help. I then see that by
pressing both thumbsticks I can boot to the dash. I figured this might load
EvoX. I press both thumbsticks. Well I can tell you THAT DIDNT WORK. I got and
Error Code 21. (Yes, I know what it means). I've tried this MANY MANY MANY times
and have gotton the same results, MXM. Just to be sure I went to the Hard Disk
memory and deleted EVERYTHING. Except backup. I went thru it all agin AND SAME
FREAKIN THING. Help me I'm really frustrated. I've done this all before on my
earlier xbox, earlier version and it worked like a charm. If I select nething
from the menu, like run mini linux, backup, etc it'll go to the green monster
screen. Please I really need some assistance.

If I just buy an already softmodded 200GB HD with all the software and emus on it, and just switch it out with the original xbox HD  with the softmodded one would that work?

i have 3 questions

1. Can i mod a version 1.5 or 6 crystal xbox?
2. If i buy a memory card and a converter to plug my controller to pc can i put the files on to
memory card this way?
3. is there much space for mp3s etc on the original harddrive to ftp to?

2: yes
3: aprox 5GB of storage space and 2 GB aditionall space on F if you have a seagate drive
