what do you mean it says you need avalaunch? your ftp client? as long as the dashboard from the gamesave is running, you should be able to connect to your xbox. you may need to mess around with the ftp settings (look for some sort of settings option).

if you can't get ftp working at all, you said you backed up your eeprom right? use xboxhdm and make a cd with the uxe complete files in C folder and your eeprom.bin in the eeprom folder, then do reformat c option and then copy the files from folder C to C drive (it should give you an option to do this automatically, if not you can use the file browsing option in xboxhdm). that will make your xbox boot up to a dashboard at the very least so that you can mess around with it via ftp. (make sure you unlock and then relock the hard drive before doing this with the eeprom.bin. use the linux unlocking utilities and type unlock -a or whatever the unlock command is).

Ok guys, my Xbox is (ver. 1.5 I think), Dashboard 1.00.5960.01 and Kernal 1.00.5101.01. It is still possible for me to softmod my box using the audio method? If so how? I have read all the stuff on this theard but it seems outdated.

You want to use the audio hack and yet you talk about stuff that seems outdated.
The audio hack is possible but why you even want to use that obsolete hack.

Sorry bout im new to this. It seemed out of date cos it was written in 01. If you dont recommend the "old" audio hack what then?

My friend has a pal-xbox with a 5960 kernel, can he softmod is xbox too? Can he use the UXE or is the UDE2 better?

UDE2 is the same as UXE except that UDE2 will NOT work on newer pal xboxes (this means yours).

you need to use UXE

edit: i propose a new slogan for the xbe exploits section, "UDE....just let it friggin die already!"

No we are all softmodding to only play those three games. We don't care about any others. They are just great.

i need help,im new and im getting all the things to soft mod my xbox,i already have a bootable cd of evox autoinstaller 2.6 i made the cd but when i check it on my computer it says that theres 0 space left to write and 0 space used,i guess this is alright because it is intended to be read only by the xbox right?now i dont have an action replay memory card but im going to unite an xbox cable with a usb one to plug it to my computer as told before in this thread with the memory inserted,i already have the drives and all that,i have the save game ready to be transfered im going to get the splinter cell game original not platinum soon,so im i missing something or thats all that ill ever need to do this? i dont know what pbl or whatever it is but do i need it?or i just need to have my save game file to access my virgin xbox and then load it with my splinter cell,then ill need to insert my bootable cd evox and with that ill finish modding?or is a must that ill need to get a fonts xploit and all that,by the way my xbox has a 4034.01 kernel and a 5960.01 dashboard,i dont know wich version my xbox is can you tell me how can i know this ?seeing all the previous information about kernel and dashboard can you tell me if this method will work in my xbox please,thanks in advance and sorry if im asking to much things but i really need help with this and you are the only ones that can provide it.

not exactly...you need to use the gamesave exploit to install a permanent hack. if i were you, i'd look into blackwar's installer or waffletools. also, if you haven't bought an exploitable game yet, you may want to consider going with one of the others. blackwar's doesn't have support for splintercell yet and more people seem to have trouble with that than either mech assault or agent under fire.

so soft modding is only those 3 games? becuase i kno someone who got theres modded through a program on there pc. and it connects to the xbox through ethernet and they can have any game they want.  how did they do that?
