I definetely wouldn't get the AR. Most of them are known to corrupt large game saves. Not all - I know! I have one myself that has never failed to work. But since he allready has access to a modded xbox he doesn't really need the usb-dongle, so get a good quality card.

About new exploits. I'm quite sure some people are looking, and I wouldn't be too surprised if a new expoit emerged one day. But I do believe MS have put a extra effort in closing most loopholes. It takes very skilled programmers to make these exploits, and lets face it, this exploit scene wouldn't have been much without the xbox-linux project. I believe if you ask them the xbox linux distro's are downloaded more frequently since the Mechinstaller was released, and as this is not compatible with the new xbox, the number of downloads might drop again. In other words they would love a new exploit for the new dashes/kenels.

But in the long run MS has the upper hand on softmods. They can just release updated xbox version and do some updating on live. The exploitable games will always work though. So I think in the future more and more people will be doing TSOP flashing. Maybe MS thinks the same, since they changed the mobo on the v1.6 so significantly.

well, i have heard that aswell, but me and ALL my friends use AR to softmod etc etc and they have NEVER had 1 problem at all!

ITS REALLY EASY.

well, that my opinionm anyway, so i dont know why you are not reccomending it idots when you know it is by far the easiest and best method...

Have a search for 'action replay' in the game save exploit forum. A hole lot of people report currupted save when using AR. I'm not saying every card has this problem - the older ones seem to work fine, but it's something Kernal should have in mind when buying a new card. But if 'mr. big spender' is going to buy severel memcards, then no problems  tongue.gif

Well my final descision is, go for AR, it will be useful for other stuff like cheats/savegames for new games your stuck on etc etc.

But, ms mem card is also a good option.

Like i said, this is my opinion,

Personally I have only used the USB dongle the one time I transferred my MechAssault Evox save game (aah those were the days tongue.gif). Since I now have ftp access I find it much easier to use 'Xbox Saves Manager' to backup and transfer saves, way faster. Should I want to put a save on the memcard I use the MS dash.

You are getting ripped off when ya buy a ms mem card.

I have a new version of AR as it came with latest software.  It works fine, all im saying is, that why buy MS when AR is much,much more value for money, you can do much more, instead of ftp'in to your xbox which is incovient for alot of people including myself as we do not all have xboxes ontop of PC!!!

Heres an overall sum up considering that you do have gamesave on your modded xbox.

AR =

ADVANTAGES = value for money, more features and usefulness.

DISADVANTAGES = AR can supposedly corrupt large save

MS =

ADVATNAGES = WILL NEVER CORRUPT LARGE SAVES, OFFICIAL, DOES THE JOB

DISADVANTAGES =  LITTLE USEFULNESS,YOU ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF...

Come on why you people even arguing? I have a thrustmaster memcard which haven't failed on me once and costed half the money of a ms memcard. On the other hand there are plenty of people having problems with AR so advicing people to use that might not be all that smart either. Guess everybody has to find out for themselves what they use.

Well you see, that's just the difference. I'm not promoting MS! All I'm saying is why not get a product that's known to work. I dont care whether it is MS, MadCatz,....
I'm in no way "in love" with MS - believe me. I rarely boot windows, and mostly use homebrew software on my xbox. I've spent more time hacking my xbox than playing games....

First of all, why the name-calling? Second, he wouldn't have to allready have the game save on the xbox. It's modded - just ftp it? Get a long cross-over cable, or just this once move the xbox.

As I see it the only advantage the AR package has is the dongle, and if you are moving save games a lot, it would be way easier, and faster to get a long patch cable....

I totally agree Krayzie. This discussion is stupid, pointless...
But what you are saying was all I was trying to get through. I would never advice people to buy a product that a lot of people have problems with, just because I own the product myself.
