But your not accurate on your second point.  Update.xbe still has the 0x00000001 flag, same as the legacy Dashboards, (and not the required 0x80000001 value flag) so ROE would still be on if you used this.  The discovery I made was that this flag isn't important for the boot XBE.

A workaround yes. A fix no.

Workaround: Open DVD-tray before pressing the XBOX Live Dashboard option to invoke the second, exploited, Dashboard.

Assuming that your exploit path includes PBL, This'll let you pop in a homebrew DVD, close the tray, and launch it from Evox.

with live 2.0 your dash would be upgraded to 5960 where the double dash exploit doesn't work anymore. You can switch over to the easter egg exploit though.

The DD exploit uses that fact that new dashboards load fonts from c:\fonts and old (pre-live) dashboards load them from C:

So keep the fonts in C:\fonts intact. Rename the extension of the original fonts in C: (to *.bak) and put bert and ernie in C:

The initial post in this thread explains what you have to do though...

My xbox has K:4817 D:4920 and is already modded with an audio exploit.
I want to try the double dash exploit with FBL.
I copied over the 4 required files (2 .xtfs and 2 .xips) for the C: and put the FBL default.xbe in E:, as well as renaming any retail .xtfs in C:
I also replace the xonlinedash.xbe in /xodash dir as well.
When I clicked on the xbox live tab , I entered the pre-live dashboard, the one with only 3 menu options. Is this supposed to happen? I thought that FBL is supposed to execute?

dunno, but i recommend ude, since ddd exploit has roe problem.

You've more than just the bert and ernie xtf fonts in C:\ - rename or remove the xbox.xtf and xbox book.xtf.

Finally solved the problems. I had to rename the 2 existing retail fonts to another extension. Couldn't keep the .xtf extension. Somehow, even though I added in an old_ to the filename, it didn't work.

The fonts are found via a "*.xtf" wildcard search.
So OLD_XBOX.xtf still matches the search pattern.  Most people rename the original fonts *.xft (swapping the last two letters) wink.gif

Ehm why the hell would i want to boot the old dash first to load the hacked fonts, if i can juz make it run the BIOS loader by renaming it to xboxlivedash.xbe ?(assuming im using a singed version of PBL)

Because you can't.  The BIOS loader doesn't have the requried M$ signature.

I hope ur not gonna tell me that this habibi signing is just for fun and has no real effect.
