as for the easter egg exploit.. wow smile.gif are M$ stupid or something wink.gif and I thought they had us beat!

someone try it with the latest dash!

They still might have.  I guess that they've coded the new boot dashboard's XBE launcher routine to only launch XBEs above a certain version number, and also shipped a new easter egg with a higher version number.

Still, I'm curious.....

Question: How's the ROJ when launching the exploit in this manner. Gonna try on my Live box and see what happens.

Dashboard 4817 did launch - as I'd expect on my configuration smile.gifROJ was still on howeversad.gif

This eliminates the ability to back up discs via dvd2xbox, then. (The audio disc being in to execute thje easter egg). At least the "regular" double dash can be used with discs...

You maybe right, but I did start to play with swapping disks, while still keying in the easter egg code, with some weird results.  There's some bright sparks on this forum, and someone may workout the optimum time to make the swap.  Not really my field this, but me other idea was to burn a CD with a hybrid CD with an audio track and a data track - don't know if this is possible with XISOs.  unsure.gif

Regarding this Reset-on-Eject (ROJ) issue:- It appears to me that it's the 'destructor' (C++ parlance) of the boot dashboard that sets the ROJ flag.  If the boot dashboard exits cleanly, such as with the double dash, or the easter egg - ROJ is enabled.  If the boot Dash is 'hijacked', with either the audio or boot font exploits - ROJ isn't set.

Just me 2cents.

Well, was going to test this with my untoughed Live Box(K: 4034 D: 5960) but I can't gain FTP access.  The MA save works fine on other box, copied to mem card and then sent to Live box and MA tells me it can't load the save. Must be something with the new Dash. I don't use gamesaves that often so I am not too knowledgeable on this part.

Excellant job devz3ro, will test out as soon as I hotswap my Live box and see if she works. BTW, no I don't have splintercell, and the gamesave must not work on ALL kernels and Dash's because I used it maybe 1 month ago and it worked on my LIVE box.  This was a previous dash version as well, so I think the new update caused it to not work. Anyone else with same K: D: settings that can confirm the gamesave works for them?

I moved the Easter-egg exploit to a new topic, so it would not get confused with this exploit.

Let me know how everything goes, I edited the st.db a little so no corruption should occur.

With the splintercell exploit, it should work on every dash (Unless MS is checking your e: now, if the game works, the exploit should.) It is a fault within the game and non-dashboard related to my understanding, but correct me if I am wrong.

Did you make sure it was the *only* Splintercell save on the Xbox? / if there was no xbox live updates installed for it? Splintercell is picky about that.

007 is still my gamesave exploit of choice, simply because it is not live enabled.

Yes you do. The boot dash (4920) gets the fonts from C:\fonts where you have the original untouched fonts. The exploit/pre-live dash is an older dash that looks for fonts in C:. You most therefore rename your Xbox.xtf and XBox Book.xtf in C: for B&E to be loaded from C:

Okay, was my problem, I had some Mech Live Updates saved on the box I didn't realize were there. Got rid of them and the gamesave works.. Just my own stupidity I guess. Thanks devz3ro for mentioning these on the splintercell, got me to look for em...user posted image

Seems as though the latest update was aimed at us doubledash users. Therefore, a word of precaution to those currently using this exploit, don't run Live or you will be surprised with an ERROR 21 upon reboot. I guess the next update they won't be able to tell us about will have to do with the Easter Egg.

Don't you mean "latest MS Dashboard update", rather that exploit?
