Hi Idots!!! I have used xboxhdm for a long time now without errors of any kind and without problems of any kind except with this hdd. This drive was softmodded succesfully. It is a 80GB Western Digital (WD80EB-28DFH2) that was in xbox with a dead motherboard. My BIOS recognize it but my problem is unlocking it. I know how to unlock the drive with your tool but this time it just wont do it. After using linux locking/unlocking utitlities.... unlockhd -a..... this is what happend

HDD Serial : WD-WCAblahblah
HDD Model : WDC WD80EB-blahblah
HDD Key : xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
HSS password : xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Detecting drive status...

HDD Serial number : Wd-WCADblahblah
HDD Firmware : xxxxxxxx
HDD Model : the same unlo
SECURITY SUPPORTED : YES
SECURITY ENABLED : YES
SECURITY LOCKED : YES
SECURITY FROZEN : NO
SECURITY COUNT EXPIRED : NO

I noticed during boot that the S.M.A.R.T. was disabled. Choosing the 4 option...DOS tools...  using unlockhx
and after writing down the HD password (eprom) and/or the MASTER PASSWORD XBOXSCENE (i dont know which one to write)... it says Drive#1 will not unlock...   using hdunlock, I assume it doesn't work because   using both passwords or any word it will say DONE  without giving error codes... Using ATAPWD I certainly can se the drive locked but no matter which option of i choose for unlocking or disabling it wont work... it says the following error. "ERROR: command rejected by drive [OK]" this is using thw XBOXSCENE password
PLEASE HELP!!!  Do you know any other programs for unlocking??   or anyway that i could the the password used to lock it?  Thanks in advance. BTW xboxhdm rocks hard!!!

you can do just that, use a gamesave with just evox, run it and do a backup, then copy the save back to mem stick
(mem stick will now have a backup folder with the eeprom.bin in it)

Hmm this is exactly where im stuck at. i have an error 5 on my xbox (unlocked drive right?) and i tried doing the error 12 hotswap with my hd and uxe/ xbhdm. but then i realized that my drive is already stuck open.  i have slayers disk and pretty much everything from xbins. How can i get my xbox going again?!?

The only thing i can think of is to get my eeprom.bin off of my ms memory card that i backed up onto (the xbox harddrive has been wiped of its original files) but i have no idea how i can do this.

The only way i can guess at is to softmod my friends xbox and hopefully a program can run to read the eeprom.bin off the memory card and ftp it onto my computer. any other suggestions?

i was a beginner and i hate myself for screwin' with the xbox in the first place. at this point i just want to play it modded or not. I hooked my xbox hard drive to my computer. I figured it worked and that it was unlocked because xplorer360 brought it up. I was able to see my songs in partition 4 and even play them after extracting. So my dumbass got happy cause i thought i was in luck. I figured i could wipe the drive clean and then use a softmod ready iso or some shit. I don't even know if it was wiped clean though. I used a program called hdpreparer or some shit. it took like 5 hours to do it. Now xplorer360 says could not find FATX drive to open.i did shut it off eventually. but not til' i got this error. I found out it was still locked with the hddunlock program but can't pay to do it now. If i get it unlocked eventually...will i be able to wipe clear and start from scratch? Would xplorer360 been able to work alone if i just deleted files and put softmod files on it? I screwed up.I wish i could just clear it and start over. Please let me know if anyone has any clue on what the hell i did or what the hell i could do please?

Hey guys, i really need some help.
I dont have a modded xbox, but want to make a modded hdd and put it in my xbox. I took the c and e folders from my friends modded hdd and FTP'd them to my pc. then I ran the xboxhdm from the boot cd I made and it created the drives on my new hdd. Thats about as far as I have got. I never was able to get my eeprom.bin file from my xbox. Is there a way around this problem?
I have spent the past 3 days reading and reading forums. I have downloaded almost every piece of software or file that has to do with modding.
Please help.   email me at  [email protected]

I'm having a similar problem.  I was using xboxhd 1.6 and it wouldn't generate the hd key from eeprom, gave a bootdecrypt error or something.  I tried writing the dos locking disk and it wouldn't lock, but after one of the reboots it locked and I can't unlock it.  I've tried using xboxhd 1.9 and the linux locking tools but nothing seems to get it.  I have all the passwords written down from the file evox created (hdinfo.txt I think), yet none of them will unlock the drive.  I've tried the master password, but I get an error that the command was rejected by the drive.  I've also tried hddisab using the disable locking password, with no success.

The drive is a Western Digital 250 gig that was on the compatibility chart as being lockable (which I would think the converse should hold true as well).

Anybody have any suggestions?  I'm about to take the drive back if I can't figure this thing out.

Im trying to unlock a hard drive and i ran into some issues. I booted to the DOS version and did the unlockhd command, typed my password in, and it said it did it. I forget what the message was exactly, along the lines of "done." or something, there wasnt any negative connotation to it. So then i typed in "hdddisabl" and it wouldn't let me, just gave me an error message. i think it may have been an "unknown command" message.

any idea why that happened?

Did you check if the hdddisabl.exe program was on your floppy? It is a separate executable. If it's not there or you misspelled it's name, it will give you a "bad command or file name"

regards.

hm, that didnt even cross my mind. I downloaded v1.9 form the usual places and didn't touch any of the files. I just burned a bootable cd-rw with it. Did I miss a step where i was supposed to put it on, or should it have already been there? I erased a pre-existing disk though, if that might cause any issues.

Hi,

I assume it is in the package and copied automatically to the floppy disk. A "dir a:*.exe" should tell you what is on the disk. Maybe they altered the name of the program a little. You can eventually find the dos tools separate on the internet. hddunlock.zip and atapwd.zip is what you should be looking for.

regards.

yeah, i dont have it on a floppy, its on a cd-rw. i looked through the disk and the iso itself and didn't find any .exe's at all.
